Compatibility with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000?

I was wanting to play Gal Civ II on my laptop, but I get an error message saying that my graphics card drivers need to be updated to work with DirectX 9.0c. The funny thing is that I already have 9.0c on my laptop and it works fine. On looking at the ATI website, I have the latest drivers which are from 2004 I believe.

The laptop is a Toshiba, and I have checked the Toshiba site as well. I reinstalled the latest drivers for good measure, but still no luck.

My specs:
Pentium 4, 3.06 GHz
1 GB Ram (128 designated for graphics with 896 left)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000

You need newer drivers. Unfortunately laptop drivers don't tend to stay as up to date, but there is an alternative for you. You can use Omega Drivers. Here is a Link to the site. It is not official, but often times one of the only alternatives if your gfx card drivers aren't updated frequently.

Omega drivers work great on my 2 year old Viao with the 9000.

Just another plug for the Omega's. They work superb on my 4 year old laptop with a Mobility Radeon 7500. The game plays just fine (I just can't crank up the AA and have all the effects).
