My question is: Did Stardock make a mistake and include activation by accident or was it intentional all along and that was one of their bugs that they fixed?
If it was required all along, where was this mentioned on the web site? I know it may be in the ula, butg that does no good AFTER you bought the product. Returns are not likely.
Since I am a developer, I reimage all my systems quite often to keep

As suggested in another post, I e-mailed the code directly to "kwilas@stardock.com" and the new patch was activated.
I can't edit. I wanted to share that I sent again the activation email following Senator WishX instruction and it worked
I recieved a file that should be copied to the game directory to complete the activation. I possibly entered incorrectly the serial number the first time.
i got the impression that patches were only available by download before i bought the game. to quote the website:
| No CD copy protection. Once you install, you never need your CD again. You can even use the included serial # to re-download the entire game from us years from now. |
that says no CD copy protection, not "no software piracy protection."
