Does paint hurt computers?

I started to paint some stuff on my laptop, and was thinking of just painting the entire thing. So, you think acrylic paint would hurt my computer? I'm pretty careful of not getting it in any cracks or inside anywhere. Maybe I'll take a picture when I'm done.

My only question is why? I guess I like keeping things the way they came.

Why? Well, two reasons.

One is because my computer is boring gray now.

Two...why not?

I'm also going to do my speakers and stereo/cd/radio dealy I have. I guess I'll do my mouse...hmmm what else. That's about everything I own. Hurrah!

My only advice is keep it a simple design (unless you want to go for a masterpiece like Po' Smedley) if you can use spray paint you get a much better finish and mask EVERYTHING you dont want to paint with masking tape and give ALOT of coats of laquer afterwards. I painted my old laptop and it looked great but remember it will be much more susceptible to scratches so if it moves around alot why not try out some sticky back vinyl/plastic you can make amazing patterns and shapes. You can then just peel it all off and start again if you ever want to freshen it up or sell it.And please do post pics

Sorry guys. I know this is a skinning site. I just like keeping my things looking new so no paint or stickers. Of course the OS is skinned unless I'm using Linux because I haven't figured out how to install themes in *nix yet. Anyhow, I'm hoping your project turns out OK.

* that ain't me or my laptop

I looked around and this is nothing new.

Of course if you don't want to art on your laptop...you can always turn your laptop into art...

and you end up with extra's..

Actually Fourth, I'll be using acrylic paint. I'd use oils, but they don't stick well to the computer. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I've been doing strange landscapes on canvas lately, so I think I'll stick with that. Think Kol's strange world Wallpapers with paint, and different colors. (No, I didn't get my idea from him)

I hate keeping things looking 'new.' My mp3 player is scratched and dented in a place, and I like it like that. Makes it seem more like it's mine. Give it some personality.

Oh yeah, I can paint my mp3 player too.

Painting your laptop/PC *isnt new, it's called "Modding" and has been around for quite sometime... Why would somebody want to "Mod" their PC? Probably for the same reason people customize cars and trucks, skin their OS's , get their hair styled etc..etc...

Modding is a fun hobby, I use a "Modded" PC myself that I built a few years back, great little machine and was a blast to build.... I really dont think a "Paintjob" is so far out there, LoL!!

Go For it!! and do post pics when your complete!

There are special paints out there that will bond to the case better than normal paint. Go to your local paint supplier and ask.

This is a painting I already did (and some other cropped ones). Yeah, those are light bulbs. Kind of silly, I guess. I'll just do something like this on all my stuff.

I'll just stick with acrylics, don't want to make a big deal out of it.
