Although there are some slams here and there, this is a very respectful site compared to many.

As a grandmother and a mother who went through the same fears when my children are small. I sympathize with your fears. It is horrible when a child is murdered by a parent or a stranger. Statistically the chances are slim, that it will happen to your child. Teaching fear of strangers is a good thing, but sad. As a grandmother, I love to say hi to children, but I always do it in front of the mothers and watch for their reaction. That doesn't mean that women who look like grandmothers don't

I don't know if you read my comment or not, but you definitely said the same thing that I did. I like your analogies, they fit.

Thank you Larry for giving me an opportunity to tell you how much I appreciate you. Even though we disagree about Israel, we agree about many things. I was sad to hear about the situation for the Christians in Lebanon, it once had a large Christian community. You have written many well written articles. I also appreciate your concern for those who aren't as lucky as we are. I'm glad you think of this as a community. I know virtually nothing about computers other than how to use t

This is a very well written article. I didn't realize GB had such a high rate of migration. For such an overcrowded nation that is a lot. The people's fears are well grounded. i also commend the British for taking in so many people and continuing to have a welfare state. Although there are certainly problems with a welfare state there are many advantages as our family experienced during the ten months in which we lived there.

If Israel was such a friendly country to Arab Christians why would they leave? It is not. The conditions in the West Bank are deplorable for both Christians and Muslims. There is no distinction given between Christians and Muslims, all are oppressed. Christians are probably safer in Lebanon with the Israeli presence, but things are different in Israel. As for your extreme examples, they are ridiculous. Homosexuals can get jobs, own property, and live well in the U.S. In Is

Larry, Are you afraid to read about things that contradict your point of view? Christians in Israel are second class citizens. They may still be there but they recognize that the price of being is Israel is to not have the same freedoms that Jews have. http://www.newquaker.com/reviews/bishop.htm There has been a great deal of immigration from Israel by Arab Christians. Although there are more Christians immigrating from Europe, the Arab Chr

When I was in my thirties, I divorced my family. I would see them once every three or four years. This continued until my father became ill and I went to visit my parents and stay through the funeral and was the last of my family to leave. Since then I have reconciled with two of my brothers and my mother. After all those years of being away from them, we have all gotten more civilized. We don't deliberately try to hurt each other any more. I fou

My sources are not in the news as far as I know. My husband went to school with a Christian Israeli Arab, when war broke out, he cheered for Israel. In Bethlehem there were massive protests. Bethlehem was put under curfew. Doesn't this seem like a change in attitude on the part of Christians towards Israel. My other source is a book written several years ago by a Friend from the Northwest who had connections with Arab Christians in the left bank.

I think that in order for our country to cooperate and share, there will be a change of heart in all Americans. Some believe that the Wesleyan revivals of the 18th century prevented an English revolution like they had in France. Only something on that level would make the necessary change in attitude.

There is a different story for Christian Arabs from the West bank. Most of them have left Israel. Even the Arab Christians in Bethlehem, once patriotic towards Israel are being persecuted by Israel. Bethlehem has become a war zone. Those who depend on tourism no longer have much business. Both sides are to blame, but the Christian Arabs are caught in the middle. There are no winners in the terrorism by both sides in this conflict.

All you can do is love her and pray. Tell her when she's ready to stop, you'll take her to an N.A. meeting. If she goes, she'll find hope and a lot of people like her.

What a lovely fantasy. Most girls have such a one. But I found when I met prince charming, that the wedding didn't matter as much. The less complicated the better. Those big weddings not only take a lot of money, but are very stressful for the bride/and or her mother. My cousin cried from stress on her wedding day and I swore I wasn't going to do that for mine. I did get a backache and need muscle relaxers, but overall I had a wonderful wedding,

In most cases, most of those extra years are going to be spent as an elderly person with failing eyesight, hearing, strength and in some cases dementia. Unless aging is arrested, we will just have more time to be old.

The problem with Israel is that the Israelis took land from the Arabs by force and then greated a nation. They did it because of the holocaust, the ancient promises of God to Israel that the land was theirs. Then they created a propaganda that said that the Arabs chose to leave, they weren't force to leave. The book and the movie Exodus glorified this view. However, it is false, the Israelis forced many Arabs off their land. Since then, the Arabs

The United States has a long history of these types of wars, the difference is that they weren't as controverisal. One of the worst was the destruction of a democratic government in Guatemala during the 50's in which we replace a good government with a miliary government that killed many people.
