You have asked a good question but I wonder if there is anything we can do. Some morality is important such as the treatment of abused children--but I don't think we'll every have a consensus on what is right or wrong anymore. Legislation doesn't matter, Those who uphold the law don't agree and will enforce the law differently every time. Short of a major crisis, I think things are just going to get more chaotic.

This is a very interesting article. There once was a consensus in our nation as to what was right and what was wrong. Now there is none.
