i also feel the camera is extremely difficult to operate. i don't know if this is a problem only i seem to have. to claridy, the current camera isn't horrible, it simply could be MUCH better. The camera is perfect, guys. Don't touch the camera. matty_p, click on the button with the picture of a videocamera on it at the top of the screen. You will now be in Zoom to Cursor mode, which is the only sensible way to play this game. <a href="https://ww

1) Sometimes my carriers will show a "+" in the Empire Window even though I can't upgrade them. 2) My colony frigates don't seem to obey group jump orders. That would be ok except they always jump *before* everybody else 3) The "X" button to close the research window only works about half the time. Usually I have to press it twice to make the window go away. 4) It seems like in your text you sometimes don't distinguish between fighters and bombers and just call them all "fighters." That's causin
When planet names are turned on, they obscure the new part of the pip ring around the planet you've added. Also, the audio cue to build more research centers is insufficient, because the only way you hear it is by clicking on a blacked out icon, which is unintuitive. The printed message--if there is one--is insufficient as well, since you can't see it while the research screen is up. Maybe give all the icons a red hue or something when research centers need to be built. Lastly, can you make the
I'm gonna stop playing until the AI gets fixed. It's just too frustrating trying to juggle everything on all my planets and then have two or three enemy empires send dozens of frigates each to eat me alive. I've tried everything I can think of to defend against this, and I just can't. So I won't.
In my current custom game, which has four stars (if that matters), I jumped a Scout to one of them, but it was nowhere to be found in the star's gravity well. It showed as a pip in the little half circle around the zoomed-out planet, and also as a pip in the Empire Window, but it can't be found in or around the gravity well of the sun, nor is it in the expanded list for the sun in the Empire Window. I never noticed if this happened in my other games or not. <a href="https://www.stardock
What kryo said. I've been thinking, I'd like to be able to access a list of my ships so I can instantly see what I have available and where they are. Such a list could be refined to do what kryo is asking for and that would help me, too. I just had one system getting waled on by tons of enemy ships and I needed some of my capitals to help defend. I wasted lots of precious time searching through my planet lists looking for ships to aid in the battle. (I guess to be complete, a similar list of str
Clicking on an aleady-selected planet in the universe view ought to scroll to that planet's position in the Empire Box and open and expand its details (as well as centering the planet in the universe view). Clicking it again ought to close the details.
Sorry I'm making separate posts instead of putting everything into one big one, but for some reason my Enter button isn't working in the editor, so I can't separate paragraphs. Anyway, I'm growing accustomed to playing the game from the Empire Box now, but it's still a little cumbersome. I think it would be nice if you would add an option to overlay the ship icons with the letters "C," "Fr," "Fi," and "B" to indicate each ship's general class (while retaining the "+" where appropriate to indicat
FWIW, I don't like the idea of having repair ships, because it makes it too quick and easy to repair capital ships. The capitals should have to lumber their way to repair docks...and while I'm on that subject, I think they should actually have to dock with the station, and thus there should be a limit on how many can repair at once (there may already be; I've only ever done one at a time). As far as getting rid of the construction ships, I'm an agnostic. They do get in the way when it comes to t
I can't speak for the OP, but I don't see any lights on either the Repair Station or Broadcast Center. Now, for what I really wanted to post about: Can you make the messages clickable? I keep seeing things like "TDN Whatsit has reached level 4," but if I want to perform some action on/with TDN Whatsit I have to search high and low to find it.
The Empire Box scroll bar is in a terrible location. I scroll the screen left every time I try to use it. How about dumping it and just using up and down arrows in some other location instead, like next to the command console at the bottom of the screen? Also, it would be nice if, in the Empire Box, the name of the planet the camera is nearest to would highlight or change color or something. It would make it easier to quickly pick it out in the list. <a href="https://www.stardock.com/
I've noticed that I can issue build and research orders while paused, but not movement orders. Maybe that's intended, I don't know, but in either case the scroll button on the Empire Box should work while paused and it doesn't (the button moves but the list doesn't). Also, when saving a game, a list of my previously saved games isn't visible. I can only manually type in a name.
Geez, I'm an idiot. I figured it out. Sorry.
Not sure whether this goes in Gameplay or Technical, but: how come I can't access games I've saved manually from the main menu? The only games I can load there are autosaves. I have to actually start an autosaved game and then access the Load screen from within the game to load a manually saved game. Also, "pause" persists over game loads. Iow, if I pause the game and then load a saved one, when it starts up it's paused as well. I'm not sure whether that's intended or not. <a href="http
Ok, another suggestion for the pile: How about providing a toggleable window in the upper right corner that has two modes: either we can lock it to a view of something we want to keep track of or, alternately, have it display a realtime view of the unit or planet we are mousing over in the Empire Box? The latter would be particulary helpful, as it would cut down on a lot of the useless moving back and forth between planets just to see what's going on.
According to the tutorial, I should be able to queue up research once I've queued my Research Station to be built, but I wasn't able to in the regular game I've been playing. I had to wait for the station to be built in order to begin queuing research items, and even then there was a several (~10) second pause after the station was complete before the research icons undimmed.
I'd like to see a small tooltip pop up with the name of the item when I mouse over icons in the Empire Box. Trying to watch the info box in the bottom right corner of the screen while mousing in the upper left is too cumbersome.
