Pretty sure this has to do with the .jpeg vs. .jpg issue. The Dev's fixed this in DeskScapes which now recognizes .jpeg, but I'm not sure if they added the .jpeg extension to the WinCustomize preview uploads.

MS did introduce the option to use HDR wallpapers, and maybe that has something to do with this issue.

I'm running the Beta channel 22635.3350 and DeskScapes works as expected. MS must have made some changes to how desktop background are displayed that is causing issues with DeskScapes.
No, not really. Start11v1 came out approximately November 2021, and Start11v2 came out approximately November 2023. Two years there, but when, and if, MS releases Windows 12? there will probably be a new version upgrade.
I'm assuming you are referring to Start11v2. You will get updates as long as Stardock supports the product. However, you will not be eligible for version upgrades i.e. from Start11v2 to Sart11v3.
[quote who="CIOXX" reply="16" id="3924622"] For me the updated build didn't fix the animated backgrounds, but it also stopped the static backgrounds from working. Both the background and the taskbar are pitch black. Note I am also using Start 11 V2, and fences, latest beta of all 3. Otherwise start/fences are working fine. If you use the "Advanced options" in the Windows 10 style, you can make it look like the Windows App style except for the location of the Quick access shortcut list. Play around with these settings and see what you can do. Here's how mine looks; I use Tabs extensively because I have over 200 shortcuts on one page:

Not a bug but i want to use Nilesoft Shell for the right click context menu on the Start11 button because it allows for full customisation of the menu items. The Windows 10 style can be set up to look pretty much like the App/Pro styles by tweaking the configs and the All Apps list is on the left. Give it a look.

I agree with Neil. I believe your icon cache is the underlying issue. Rebuilding the icon cache could help, but it's not a guarantee. You're probably better off fixing the icons with issues. Opening the Properties dialog and updating the icon, even if it's the same one, should help. So, on your Start11 menu, right click an icon with the black background and select More>Open file location. Once there, right click the shortcut and select Properties. Click Change Icon and then Okay if

What happens if you unpin an app icon with a black background and then right click the app in the All Apps section of the Start11 menu and select "Pin to Start11?"

Like a lot of other software vendors, Stardock has gone to a subscription model for Fences 5, and therefore a permanent license is provided at a premium cost. It sucks, I know, but the entire industry seems to be going in this direction. As long as you have an active subscription, you will get version upgrades as part of the subscription license. Also, there is a discount for upgrades.
Are the shortcuts on your Start11 menu with the black backgrounds .ico or .png files? If they are .png files, there appears to be an issue with transparency. That is why I suggested the GPU driver. Try the 2.07 update as Basj suggested and see if it fixes your issue.
There is a tweak in the latest Beta update released today for virtual desktops. Not sure if it will fix your issue, but it's worth a try. Tweaked group joining to factor in the current virtual desktop more for auto-grouping https://forums.stardock.com/526148/get;3921572

Thanks for this fix! Resolved the issue of not being able to drag auto-grouped windows out of group. Works great. I know of a couple of people who will cheer for this one. Thanks again for recent updates to Groupy2.
Do you have Chrome set to Auto Group? If you do, you can't pull Groupy2 tabs out of the group. I think they changed the way Auto Group works in the latest update. A new Beta was released today that fixes this issue. Groupt2 - Beta 2.1.5.2 https://forums.stardock.com/526148/get;3921572
