^Well said, JayJay. I look at it the same way. There are no grounds to claim that there should be less incompatibility problems between software and hardware nowadays then before. There are also so many variables which could cause said incompatibility or CTDs of software thats it too easy to say its bad programming on the part of the software's devs.
Are they working to fix it and do they deserve some credit for that? Of course and even more for being honest about it, they are even trying to make it good. However that doesn't make me like the game more, or a whole lot happier about buying it.
And right you are, but aparently it comes down to the age-old glass is half full/half empty issue. You're clearly missing my point (like so

@ebelser: First of all most are not 'rabid' defenders. Its about fairness and reality. Your 'tone' is exactly what I referred to in my previous post. Using words like 'rabid', 'battered gamers syndrome'. Can you come up with examples of why "every PC is different" defense doesn't cut it? I think its even more true nowadays then is was when we're still on our XT's. Now we have dozens of different hardware brands and hardware component types to mix and match. So howcome doesn'

A game called AI War has dozens of AI 'personalities', maybe its an idea to have a choice about what type of AI you want the other nations to have in the future versions of the game. Like a turtling AI, steamrolling AI, tech focussed AI, you name it. Not just a general difficulty setting. On the other hand, the AI in GalCiv 2 received lots of praise, so I am sure Elemental's will get better as well. :P

Sure I understand that must be dissapointing. But the game runs without crashes on other systems as well. There are thousands of configs out there and unfortunately its a given fact that games might have problems with certain configs. But its unfair to say the game is broken just because it crashes on your particular PC. The fact that it does run without crashes on others proves that its not the game alone, but a combination of game/PC config, but that wasn't my point in my previous

Though I am sympathetic to the players experiencing the CTD's, I agree about the attitude issue brought up above; There is no denying Elemental was not in a good shape upon release. SD confirmed that on several accounts and has apologised for it. They even offer the first expansion free to anyone ordering until the end of the year and even the first AND second expansion free of charge for the early adopters! How's that for an apology, huh?
but the total customization of human troops feels too much like a game of Excel. In GalCiv, being able to completely customize spaceships fitted the concept well, but in a fantasy game I would like it to be a bit more restrictive. Well I totally disagree with this because Alpha Centauri proved what a great idea being able to custom build ALL your units WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS is. I had more fun CREATING different types of u

I doubt bumping this will make em post the dev plan any earlier, Devildog. [e digicons][/e] They'll post the plans when they feel like it's ready to post them. And no doubt they will. SD has kept us up to date on all things happening so far (and did so for their other games), so just show a little patience and you'll see we'll get all the info we need in due time.
You lost your sovereign in hostile territory? Instant loss.
This. I think you either might have overlooked the fact that your Sov was in the army as well and he or she got killed or it was the army / weak units 'issue' like discussed above. Messages do get displayed instantly often, even before the game is done calculating everything and letting you take control again. It does come across as sudden. Quite t

In the campaign the exit box(es) blow brightly, I never saw that in tactical battles in the main game, so I supposed there was no way to retreat at all. :) First time I see that there aparently IS an exit box in those battles as well. ;)

xStarfirex I do agree as well. Some items of the world do seem detached. While there is nothing wrong with certains spawns due to research (Civ does this too) there has to be a balance between making the world desolate, but still keeping it interesting and suitably tactical. High level monsters are cool, but if they start to roam the map they can become a problem early on as we have seen in earlier builds of the game, so a different solution has to be found here
Would it be that bad if all those goodie huts were on the map to begin with, just having a difficulty tag or something attached to them. Same story for resources, hardly any strategy placing cities outside of just filling out your borders. Then when you research a tech (assuming it spawns something in YOUR borders), annoying things like libraries spawning by your gold focused city or gold mines spawning by your arcane specialized city happen ruin

Do I misunderstand the meaning of 'the next parts' referred above when I ask if there has already been some additional content released for owners of the book? [e digicons][/e] If so, where can I download that? If not, then sorry for the misunderstanding. [e digicons];)[/e] EDIT: Nevermind the above! Great news that the patch is coming! Great job and look at the changelog! You guys have done an outstanding job and if you continue to support Elemental like this I am sure many many people will come around. As a fan -and someone who has always trusted you guys would hold true and get Elemental where it needs to be- I had also bought the accompanying book. I have just began reading it today actually, cause it seems like Elemental is well on its way now and I thought it wa

After having spent a few weeks now with the game and its community I urge ;) all players to come and take a look! This gem of a game is not really well known, but provides so much fun! Not only that, but the super-friendly community helps a lot as well. There's a Newbie Tournament setup right now where new players can accept a challenge in a friendly environment to let them learn the game and even win extra cards for their collection. I'll elaborate a bit more: The N

Thanks Loup! I know this is a friendly community, but indeed I do not wish to become known as the guy who asks all the stuff that can easily be found. ;) Am I correct that Stardock is planning to include an updated manual with the next patch?

Strange... it sounds like MY game and yet I've never even heard of it! :S You can download it via Matrix Games, which supposedly would give you 'matrix games only' benefits like extra cards and such, or you can download it from sony. Is the matrix version indeed more feature packed? Sure sounds like a game I should try! Can you play this PBEM as well?

In the days of GC 1 there used to be quite some extensive strategy guides floating around and I am sure there are some for GC 2 as well, but are there also guides available which incorporate TA? I am starting out newly again with GC2TA after having been away from this game for quite some time and I always enjoyed setting the first steps reading a strategy guide. If there is one (or more) could you please point me towards them? Thanks!

Hi all, I saw some screenshots on the web showcasing modded GUI's in GalCiv2. I was wondering if someone has a list of which mods are available and where to get them? I'd really like a different GUI (sorry devs ). Cheers
