A recent addition to my setup was a 4th monitor, a touch screen connected via USB C cable. And true to my explanation above it is identified as #4, both in Display order and Color Management order alike. I did some testing by creating a 'test' Fence on the 4th new monitor. Took a snapshot in Fences. Than I put the 4th monitor asleep and that 'test' Fence moved to the #1 Primary monitor. Turned On/ awakened the 4th monitor and 'test' Fence remained on Primary (as expected). Did a

My question with respect to the new One PC restriction, can I use a single user basic license on the same dual booting PC. I dual boot Win 10 and Win 11, productivity and gaming reasons, and am wondering if installing Fences 4 on both is acceptable. TinkerNZ
It seems that the PrimaryMonitorLast registry value is the root of this evil.
I would go even further in saying this problem is caused by the Windows anomaly which allows the Display order configuration to be out of sync with the Color Management Display order. See above for how I managed to get the 2 orders in sync, at least it worked on my setup, by changing the order in which the monitors are physically connecte
I used to have this monitor swapping issue, still using Fences 3 btw. Also using Display Fusion and whatever I tried the issue prevailed. Also with other apps at times I had similar issues and while continuing to try and find a fix I stumbled on some info regards Windows 10 monitor ID profile (when checking Display settings for my 3 monitor set up) and the monitor ID profile for Windows Color Management are separate profiles. In my case these 2 profiles were out of sync. And further when
Hi Basj, Found the setting which appears to control the display behaviour when clicking on a folder inside a folder portal. Turning the setting OFF ensures the correct functioning of the portal clicks. See screenshot below. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction where I found it. Vincent
Yes, it is set correctly.
Hello Basj, I had guessed that might be it, however it seems to be inactive as with or without yhay option being ticked the behaviour is the same, ie. an Explorer window opens when a folder in the portal window is double clicked. Maybe another bug/issue to pass on to support. Btw, I have installed both Fences and DeskScapes into a copy of Windows 11 Beta and all seems OK this far. Haven't yet checked for the issue of the Portal behaviour, but the black background in the Desk
Hi Basj, Did the steps 1-3 and also tried DeskScapes with static background as opposed to the video moving type backgrounds. In all cases, static img or otherwise, when DeskScapes is running the Fences snapshot results in black background image with just the Fences showing in their correct positions. As soon as DeskScapes is disabled and a Windows background is applied, the snapshot in Fences shows the background and Fences positions correctly. Just an observation, when
Hi Basj, Below is scr-shot of both Speccy and Display Fusion setting windows with all info. Only bit missing is the Text Scaling which is set to standard 100% on all 3 monitors via Display Settings in Windows 10. Hope this sheds some light on things. Vincent
Another query. This one regarding Portals to Folders, specifically folders inside folders. Currently with a created Folder Portal, when I click on a folder within, it opens a Win Explorer window rather than drilling down within the portal as seems to be indicated here (time mark 0.49) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl52OgyvKYk . Is there a setting which controls this behaviour? So far I've not been able to find it.</p
Hi Basj, Thanks for the quick come back on this. Appreciated. 1) Windows version, scr-shot of winver.exe below. 2) Will consider the purge and re-install steps. I assume the purge will put me back to a complete no Fences restart, so all currently configured fences will need to be re-created after re-install. As at this point things seem to be working (apart from black snapshots), I'll hold off with the purge option. 3) Thanks for the explanation. Yes it is there twice as i
Hi, after install of beta 3.1.2.7 at the first restart/reboot my desktop went nuts, trying to create a fence where ever I clicked on the desktop. I'm also running DeskScapes 11 and it was flashing and stuttering badly. After a shutdown and restart things appear to have settled back to normal ops. When looking for a 'why' I found a doubled entry in the Windows Startup Apps. see scr-shot. Can you explain? Also the snapshot taken by Fences now show the background as 'black' as opp

Just installed the Beta and first impressions are great. It fixed my Black screen issue with 3 monitors I was experiencing with Deskscape 8. That is a big plus. However the new version appears to suffer from the same bug as Fences when booting from cold start up and it randomly gets confused which monitor is which. My centre monitor is my Primary, with numbering left to right 1,2,3. 1 and 2 are Display Port and 3 is HDMI. When booting from cold both Fences and now Desk
