Do what you feel needs doing Brad. You are the creator of this game, but if you hate it - how motivated are you going to be to keep working with it? First and foremost ya gotta keep yourself motivated. That's the hardest part of being a creator. Add all the criticism that comes w/putting stuff out there and its real easy to lose that motivation. Lots of people have good ideas, and many others are highly motivated - very few manage to have both qualities tog

I would second some use for a second monitor, not a lot of games do this. Some do. I think supreme commander did, iirc, and battlefield 4, etc... Obviously it should just be used as something informational so that those w/out dual monitors don't feel like they are missing anything. But one less screen I have to open up because its already open on my second monitor would always be nice. Maybe a convenience screen w

Maybe i'm just missing a way that already exists to do this, but it would be nice to be able to collapse all the caravans so i can see only the non-caravan units in this upper left unit list (pic below). Also, it would be nice to be able to differentiate, maybe color coding 'em, between the caravans in this list that have already established routes, and those that have not. As it is, it looks like the following (and off screen, if ya

actually, your mentioning drivers reminded me it was time to upgrade, so i grabbed the latest whql nvidia drivers and all is well (so far) so disregard this particular bug! But i'll post again along w/the debug.err if it happens again.

Happens from time to time, exiting and restarting fixes. If i don't exit after seeing this, it ends up crashing. And it only shows up at certain zoom levels. Even after it happens, in other words, if i zoom in or out, these artifacts disappear. http://www.stafford-the-bastard.com/FE/graphics.jpg p.s., that mana node at the bottom is the same one from my other b

This only happens some times, and i wasn't even gonna report it, but it just happened for a second time: exit the game normally (i exit when any graphics probs show up because that means a crash is coming) restart game, but game won't start, won't even try. hmm, wonder why. ctrl-alt-del, task manager, ok its not listed in applications. Check processes, bam, there it is, still running. No icon in

Luvin' the game btw: found a possible bug: after leaving my first town to quest/lvl/find-stuff, my water node had finished constructing its shrine and i decided to convert it to a death node since i now had 50 mana to spare. after converting it to a death node, it lost its shrine, ok fine i'll build another - but it wouldn't let me. I have the tech, the build button is there and not greyed out when the node

My requests (maybe I'll be lucky and some of these are already implemented and I just don't realize it: 1) In the planet list, if you select a planet you jump to it. would be nice to have a key to jump back to the last one selected. (I play on the largest maps I can so anything to help to quickly find something is always good). 2) ascension victories, on the larger maps. I might be alone in this but would like to make ascension crystals t

Pretty simple, just a crash to desktop. Just wanted to play a quick game to see how the game runs on my new machine. Very quickly processed many turns, just trying various screens and functions out. One second game is running fine, the next second - I'm looking at my desktop. Files linked to below. Took some time to look up what needed to be posted for a bug report and by the time I was done I had forgotten exactly what it was I was doing at the

They hand out patents like candy, even invalid ones. The real question is, can the patent you get stand up to challenge or be be successfully enforced. Try to enforce your patent, then you'll find out if it passes muster. Otherwise, they're happy to take your money and rubber stamp your patent. (plus, patents can be challenged as well, so why not let challengers or the people someone is trying to enforce a patent against do all the work of identifying and weeding out invalid
SmegInThePants, that is going into HOW copyright OPERATES... But its GOAL was only one... to further innovation and advance society. It did so by balancing the two factors you described. By going completely out of balance now towards the "rights" of the creator, it now stifles creation instead of encouraging it.
we are in agreement then, sorry for misunderstanding your point =>
I think should look at the purpose of copyright. The idea behind copyright is not to pay the author. This is a common misunderstanding. There are plenty of people in society doing usefull work that did not get legal protection to get paid. The reason why copyright was that if there was a commercial incentive to produce cultural works, more works would be produced.
This is only half the story. If you read early su

I think its sad that I now feel like I have to look into a game's DRM before I consider buying it. At least w/stardock games I don't feel that way, no research needed beyond - will I like this game? I used to prefer getting games in a store, but I've been burned by unexpected DRM a few times and now I'm actually wary of even that, for pc games at least. No pun intended, but I cannot 'impulse buy' anymore in a brick and mortar store, not until I've gone home, got on

I'll definitely be trying the demo before I buy. When I switched to vista there were 2 games I had problems with. The witcher was one (it was fixed after a few nvidia driver updates), and the HoMM5 expansions. HoMM5 vanilla works fine, but the expansion are not happy w/vista (they run fine, but no matter what you do the game reverts to the lowest quality graphics setting, atari2600 looking, bleh). I loved the original king's bounty, so as long as it runs ok on my machi
Well for what it is worth I the real deal for the activations limits is simply to stop second hand sales.
hopefully this kind of thing will be challenged in the courts and put down at some point. If you're right, then imagine if they started doing this with books. I wonder how many people buy these games not knowing about these limitations on their ownership until after they get home (if even then). Does it say anything on the box? There are a ton of consumer protection laws out there, many of which will give you attorney's fees if you win, even in many of the states that usually don't allow for winning attorney's fees (they did this because otherwise lawyers tended to be unwilling to take such lawsuits - why on earth

I prefer paid for expansions to monthly fee approaches. Like guild wars versus most other mmo's. You can take or leave any of the expansions as you see fit, adn the expansions are humongous! And no monthly fee. If I haven't played in 6 months and suddenly get the urge to play for a day and just a day w/out paying any money, I can. There are still free patches and content updates too, but the real big stuff -> paid for. Plus, I can just leave it on my HDD, unpl
