I'll try and post my save when I'm home later. I'm pretty sure I'm at war as I am able to attack armies outside of a city.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or a game mechanic I do not understand, but I am currently at war with the Magnar and I cannot capture their outposts or attack their cities. This new war follows shortly after a previous war where I could capture their holdings. Is there a spell or ability that could prevent my assault? Does it have something to do with going to war again so soon after a previous war? If it is a bug, it is definitely a game killer (at least for this
I'm having the same problem with the patch. Anyone got a solution?
I'm having the same problem. About halfway through the update download I get an error message. Anyone know a good fix for this?
You know, if it was anyone other than Stardock, I probably would cancel my pre-order and rush out to buy the game. Heaven knows I am not a patient person. But when it comes to publishers, Stardock really are the "good guys". I have been a big fan of Stardock ever since the first Galactic Civilizations, and I have bought Galciv 2, The Political Machine 1 and 2, and Sins of a Solar Empire (and it's new expansion). I have been so impressed by the quality of games pub
I've recently been thinking a lot about he virtues and vices of democracy here in America. I believe that we have some very serious and disturbing quetsions that we need to ask ourselves if we are going to thrive in the 21st century. Take a look at the article below and post some any comment or ideas you have on this issue. http://www.strangelegacy.com/2008/05/02/discussion-is-

It's been roughly two weeks since this game came out and the only thing I can really complain about it the amount of sleep I've lost because of it. Stardock and Ironclad should be forced to put a warning label on this game as it is clearly habbit forming. When I first heard about SoaSE I was pretty skeptical about the idea of blending 4x with RTS, but I was confident that if anyone could pull it off, Stardock was the shop to do it (I've purchased a lot of their games -- specifical
I agree with the thoughts posted above -- don't underestimate the power of well defended planets. I typically identify the key entry-points into my space and super-fortify those planets/asteroids. It's amazing what 12 turrets, a few hangers and a repair platform (along with an antimatter generator if you're playing the Advent in the late game) can do to help a small fleet stand up against a vastly superior force. When it comes to going on the offensive, I tend to invest in quality -- along wi
I know this post has been done before, but the few I've searched for didn't show many replies -- I'm really curious to know which of the three races people like most. Personally, I prefer the Advent. I think they have the best overall "look" and the Daestra Crusader and the Illuminator are great for tackling large fleets. Their only drawback in my book is that annoying female voice that repeatedly proclaims "for the Unity!". I also like their ability to "auto-train" capital ships up to leve
I just downloaded the Sins beta to my desktop and I've really been enjoying it. I've been a pretty loyal Stardock customer for a while and I own all of the Galciv games and their expansions. One of the things I enjoy most about Stardock is their willingness to let me install their games on both my desktop and my laptop through my SDC account (I understand the rule of only playing the game on one machine at a time). Nevertheless, Sins is being produced in partnership with Ironclad, and so I'm
Wow -- settle down guys. I also finally got it to download to my computer and I've been enjoying a few good, solid hours with it. Thanks for your help Stardock.
I too have tried the solution of switching to US-2. Just finished the download again but still no joy -- it just started over (:( .
I've been watching the press on this game for a little while and finally decided I needed to pre-order and get access to the early beta (I normally don't buy any game before the reviews come out, but Stardock does such a great job with its games I make an exception in their case). I'm not a noob when it comes to using SDC as I have purchased all the "Galciv" games and their expansions. I recently updated my TotalGaming.Net account and decided to purchase SoaSE with tokens. I thought the game
Actually, if you want to play SC Forged Alliance without the CD, you can buy the game from www.direct2drive.com. I've used that site to purchase a lot of games for my laptop (I have a rule that no game on my laptop can require the use of CD's).
One unlikely effect I would love to see in the game would be true "hyperdrive" ship movement -- much like FTL in Battlestar Galactica. Basically, movement would still work the same -- ships could only travel a certain distance each turn; however, when you clicked on the spot you wanted your ship to travel it would "jump" with a cool flash of light and instantly appear in the desired location. If the desired location exceeded the movement points the ship could use that turn, it would jump as fa
I've read the recent description of the features slated to come out in the Dark Avatar expansion and as far as I'm concerned fall 2006 can't come soon enough! (Both for the release of this expansion and the return of Battlestar Galactica) One of the features I find especially promising is the need to research different technologies in order to colonize certain planets. This reminds me of one of the frist space conquest games I played, Space Empires IV. I like this idea as it extends the prospe
Forgive me if I'm mentioning an idea that has already been given, I tend to glance through posts rather than read each comment individually. I agree with those who've stated that implementing carriers would probably be difficult to do while maintaining the integrity of the games AI mechanics (each time you add a new feature, it opens up a huge can of worms in terms of getting the AI to use it properly). However, if carriers were to be implemented, here's a suggestion which might involve the le
Looks like it's working...thanks!
Here's a test.
I know a million people have probably asked this question, but how do I get the medals I earn in Metaverse games to appear on my posts? I have a metaverse character who has logged over 7 games now, and earned several medals, but none of them appear when I make comments. What do I need to do to get those to show up?
p.s. Using the strategy listed above, I am able to maintain 100% work capacity throughout nearly all of my games. Another important note -- you need to grab morale boosting galactic wonders before other civs build them, or build starbases on any morale resource near you ASAP. The happier your people are, the more you can safely raise taxes; I often have a tax rate of 50% with my approval still in the 90's.
I've just glanced through this post, so forgive me if anything I'm about to say seems redundant or has already been suggested. My strategy is pretty simple. I immediately colonize the small, unihabited planet (usually rated a "4") that appears new my homeworld at the beginning of each new game and build 3 basic markets on it (these are pretty cheap, so you can buy them outright if you want). On every other planet I colonize, I'll build a factory first and then have a market listed second in q
My great first love when it comes to TBS games would have to Star Trek, BTOF. Despite it's many bugs and interface issues, I will always fondly remember the "red alert" sound everytime my ships were engaged in battle. I also still feel that the cinematic battle scenes in that game are the best of any TBS game.
I definitely agree that this option would require an on/off switch during game setup. I certainly don't want anyone to misinterpret my intentions here -- I think Stardock has done a fantastic job with this product and even without any further changes/improvements I will be playing this game for years to come. This is simply something that came to mind as I read posts from players who were a little frustrated about the late game in a huge or gigantic galaxy. After all, it doesn't matter how go
