Did a cursory search and didn't find an answer, so at the risk of hell raining down on me, I'll ask the question. Was getting used to the Vasari in a game and had the non-phase lane travel feature rear it's ugly head. The pirates were the first to travel outside and the AI started to chase them until they were half-way to another planet. Didn't sink in for a while, kept seeing pirate ships in a planet list (right-side triangle) but when I zoomed in I didn't see any (thought I found
Here's another random comment besides my bitch about the order of the savegames. I see at least on of the devs is a David Weber fan (re: star/planet names). Just noticed that, been re-reading his stuff so it rang a bell. pek
(we'll talk about the new diplomacy system in beta 5). What ?! Beta 5?! Putting bounties on players is usually a waste of money. Pirates are so weak that a few defenses and one or two repair stations are able to hold them up easily. Er, no. Maybe a fully prepared defense point can take them down -- but making those fully prepared defense points is, in and of itself, a m
This may sound silly, but the load game sequence (oldest save first) is a step back from the other betas, and other games (most curent save first). When you go to load a save, you want the latest, not the oldest as first choice. pek
I had the DX control panel set to use the debug version of DX9 (troubleshooting a SINS beta problem). When I fired up GC2 TA, the minimap in lower right corner was all white. Actually, I fired up TA and found the minimap white. I thought about it a minute and remembered I had the debug DX set. I set it back to the retail version and got the minmap back. Just a FYI to the devs. pek
But wait!!!! GC2's newest expansion, Twilight of the Arnor, is out now. I've got something to do while whiling away the time for B4. And I won't be grabing anyones rosy red cheeks (from sitting playing too much sins). pek
Not to be a smart ass (well maybe a little), I'm one of the baby boomers (and a grandparent to boot!) and I design/support voice and data networks for a living. Generalizations like that can get you into trouble. One can only marvel at the gross generalizations the younger generation makes. pek
I (actually) asked sales and "they" said for us early adopters, we can get the CE for the cost of shipping. Of course, you know about "them". pek
If you make sure that you get the yellow circle when you have your mouse over the object, you can target the object. Otherwise, your ship's AI will ignore the it even if you can't build on it. pek
Having sent quite a few in, the folder they are in is: C:\Documents and Settings\"your login name here"\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\MiniDump There are some things in user.settings that can be set to create even more log files. Also, you should probably zip or rar the files because some e-mail servers block messages unless they attached files are a certain type (doc, zip, txt, rar) that can't be executed unless there's more than one step to run them.
The Vasari are masters of Phase technology, so you may enjoy playing them. I KNOW I'm gonna enjoy playing as them not as much as the space elves, mind you.
Or the pink space ponies. pek
Oooooohhhhh!!!! So THAT'S how games are made. My parents lied to me. Does the stork deliver them to the stores? pek
i'm pretty sure this has been fixed already Fixed in B4? I checked the end game stats and there was a lower limit of -198 credits, so I wasn't imagining it, grace a'diu (I'll be the first to admit I've got quite an imagination, but I haven't "imagined" like that since the 60'
I was playing a game, about 30 min in, was building up an asteroids defenses when I noticed I had a negative credit balance and my positive income was actually making the amount less negative. It got back to the positive, but it was really strange to see a negative balance. I hadn't lost anything up that point, this was still at the scramble to colonize stage. I didn't know that sins COULD have a negative credit balance. I could still add structures to the build queue, so the game wasn't sto
I agree with most of the comments so far, repair ships need to repair, not go on offense, when they go on offense they tend to get away from the defense umbrella and they are toast. Same thing with the command ships. I don't think the alternate abilities are worth the weakness using them entails. Even when set to local attack, they still get too far away from the fleet, they see something at the edge of their envelope, go chase it, it gets killed, they see another ship at the edge of their en
The defenses too powerful? You can fly right by gauss cannons with minimal losses. A well thought out attack and easily get past the most turtled player. true. I have seen pirates do this a lot, they mananged to move past rather big gauss clusters and attack the other side of the planet or even jump to another system, so defenses do help, but you also need a fleet to really push back an attack. that's probably
For game play #2, If you use the empire screen on the left and enable the show fleets (ctrl 1 - 9) you can see each ship in any fleet, that's the way I keep tabs on my cap levels. If you left click on the particular ship, you can choose your upgrades there. Game play #3, you just choose all the ships you want to jump together, then right click on the green up arrow in the lower right corner of the screen. The choices are straggle ( one green up arrow) or jump together (three green up
You can select your planet, go to logistics building, and build that way. With autoplacement of mining structures selected, you never have to worry about selecting asteroids. true, yet not my point. I would like the option of giving a build order to three asteroids with two clicks without navigating menus. this should be extremely easy to implement and would help me (and others I presume) a lot. Well, yo
It seems that the AI has gotten quite a bit more, timid? I did a 4v4, 20 planets with one of the AI's my intimate good buddy, all treaties. I went out fast to grab planets/asteroids, had 3 ice planets close by, so after I researched ice planets colonization, I got all 3, 2 were right next to my good buddy. The AI colonized 2 asteroids and after that I couldn't get it to do anything, it just sat in it's system and did nothing. The. Entire. 5 hour. Game. It didn't buld anything after the 1
I have a question about z pirates. when it says RAID LAUNCHED does it say at who ? because for me thats all I see which makes me pull my fleets back in defense only to find that they dont attack me. am i missing somthing ? im currently playing a game right now against two M comps in which i dont have any bounty on my head yet it says impending pirate raid but i never see any. After building up a fleet I sent it to find the pirates and found them I did massed at their b
Can't get there in time to do anything, the amount of warning you get when you see the flashing corona isn't enough to put together a task force and gallop to the rescue, since it's in the star's gravity well and travel times are a lot longer through there. Of course, I could reload the last save since I know what's going to happen and pre-position forces. If you took over the pirate base though, there shouldn't be any more attac
Yeah, that's what happened to me, but they did have pillagers. The 3.5/sec was nice for the brief time I had the asteroid. pek
Found a problem with the AI continuing to add to my bounty AFTER it destroyed/colonized the pirate asteroid. I wondered why the pirates stopped coming but the bounty kept increasing. Unless it's an interest-free bank acount for the AI, assuming that it can collect, which it can't. pek
Didn't have to explore the pirates asteroid, when I took it over by culture it was part of the base. I think that it is always the case with the pirate asteroid. Haven't run across any other planet with booty, but haven't had a chance to play that many games. Still experimenting. Probably be 'experimenting' 'till Feb. Ron, I was surprised at the max tac points, although you are penalized by 60 max pop and slow growth. I only had 0.1 tax from it the whole game. Didn't contribute mu
