I had the exact same behavior - changing wallpaper or theme settings caused Fences to stop working. Unfortunately I was not able to resolve this issue.

I have Windows10 and I uninstalled ObjectDesktop. After restarting my PC I get an error about starting the Gloss Mint Weather Gadget. After some investigation I found that the Stardock directory is not empty. There are 5 folders that appear to be desktop themes. The file location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\DesktopGadgets Should I just delete these folders? It appears that Gloss Mint Weather.exe is still listed as a startup application.
IT believed that the issue is related to Ivanti though we weren't able to validate specifically by uninstalling/disabling the software. I will create a separate ticket for a refund. Thanks for your help. -Scott
I am unable to resolve this issue even after troubleshooting for some time now. It appears the conflict is with Ivanti Security Control that is installed on my computer. Given this is a corporate PC, I don't have access to make changes to the security settings. I purchased Object Desktop to include Fences 3.0 but since It doesn't work I would like to get a refund. I really only wanted the Fences application, not necessarily the other apps included with OD. Is a r
@Sean - Yes, this is a corporate PC that has anti-virus/anti malware software though I don't believe that it's ForcePoint. I'm not sure the specific software I have. @AzDude - I tried uninstalling via the purge > Restarting > Re-installing Fences 3 > Restarting and I'm still getting the same error. Given that my computer is part of a corporate environment is it likely that this issue can be resolved or is my OS simply too locked down? <
Hello, I tried that, it did not work. I also tried purchasing and upgrading to Fences 3.0 and I still get the error with the new version of Fences. -Scott
I have just started to get the following error message - "Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly. As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled. To re-enable Fences, right click your desktop and choose Enable Fences" I tried restarting my PC and even uninstalling and re-installing Fences but I continue to get this error message and the application will not start.
