Ok from a gamers point of view---I am not influenced by one review from anyone!!! And if anyone is then shame on you for being so narrowminded---I highly doubt that one review would kill any game---If the game is good on its own merit it will sell---I think enough gamers like me have been burned more than once by poor products that have been released---I never even hear

I don't like Tom Chick's reviews period, never did. He just plain writes bad reviews which make you wonder if he had even played a game. This is not going from my present experience either, this goes way back. I am talking probably in the 8 year range I remember this. If Tom Chick wrote the manual for GalCiv2, I think that was a great job! Maybe he should do that instead of writing reviews, he is just not very good for review writing in my opinion. As for SotS, hey put the chea
Okay, so I've been reading what everyone wants for the expansion or even GC3, or even in an update so I'll add my two cents worth. I want to see a ship class that is a carrier vessel, able to transport a contingent of fighters anywhere in the galaxy at breakneck speed, once proper engines are researched of course. I know this really wouldn't be a necessary addition, but it
I'm not buying it. Period. I understand that the designers wanted to focus on the single player game experience, and that's fine. I respect that. But no Multiplayer? Am I really going to be forced to play something else because you dont have multiplayer support in your game? Is it really that difficult that you couldn't throw it in to a patch? <br/
I will buy it online and I don't have a problem with that. I plan to do the download plus shipped box option.
I know I have said this before but I need to say it again, I absolutely cannot wait for this expansion! I truely feel once it is released, it will put GalCiv2 on top of a throne for space strategy games on the pc.
Man that is the biggest change log I ever sen in my life! Nice job!
I finally managed to pull of one of these a few minutes ago. Funny thing is, when I started playing, I was not even planning on a tech win. All the other games, the ones I actually planned on a tech victory, I never came close to it. Strange this time, not even going for one, it all worked out. Perhaps it may have had alot to do with finding some very nice planets near me in the beginning. I had very stro
Didn't GalCiv1 have a planet killer type ship?
Um, by the time you're thinking about tech victory, you should have maxed out at least one weapon tech. A huge ship should be able to mount 6 or 7 black-hole disruptors or doom rays easily. After bonuses, it's not impossible to get a *medium* ship with an attack in the region of 150 or so. I was very far into the mass drivers but the AI ships sta
Some of these are downright scary! Its like I hit the play button, watch my ships fight it out and during the close battles, my nerves are shot. I almost feel like biting my finger nails. Its like watching a close football game or something, cheering on your favorite team. I actually find myself cheering on my ships. I love those battles. Its like, my last game, I created a massive dreadnaught. I
That would be a great idea
Congratulations on your new baby girl!
Oh, yes I absolutely love GalCiv2 as well.
Civilization IV is the worst of the series. This game has been designed for kids and people with poor history knowledge and cannot be compared to previous civilization game. I paid 70$ canadian for the pre-sale edition and now I'm unable to sell it 30us dollars on ebay and I only played 2 times. This game suck, that's the worst turn-based game I ever p
Simply put... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS EXPANSION!
Yeah but there's no good in good(ain't that a bitch) when when your civilzation is falling around you because you have no economy, military, ect. All you get is other civilizations like you, wow, and only good civs would like you the evil ones just want to enslave you ( and with low quality planets, no money, and your civ hates you for being a pussy, it's relativly easy fo
I have to disagree. I have found armed transports to have many uses depending on the hull used to design it.
Plus, when I design the ships, all I do is double-click on the items I want to add. I pay absolutely no attention to how the ship looks. Geez, I'm boring. Its actually very fun to watch a ship that you have designed yourself, looking all cool and into a battle.
Mine are like WW2 ship names. For example, I name battleships after a state, cruisers after a city and destroyers after a hero. Non-combat ships I name different... alot of times I will use something like Twilight Endevor for a colony ship or I will do something like Twilight Florida for a battleship for flavor. So alot of times instead of just using the state name by itself, I will add Twilight, Andromeda, or Orion in with it for example. Usually sounds pretty good for a ship name. Like the big
I wish reviewers and a handful of players too will give this multiplayer crap a rest. First off, who has time to play a game like this multiplayer?? Come on people, its not a game for multiplayer, forget it we don't need it. How many people actually play games like this multiplayer?? Go ahead, do a poll and you will see probably 10% that do, if that much. Why oh why do all the trouble and work to put multiplayer in a game like this just to please a tiny percent of people that complain... oh... n

Citizen Corinthian, are you to a point where you can beat GalCiv2 everytiime on the highest level? What about scores? Alot of times, I just play games like this on a normal to just above normal level and I will try to beat my score and do better each game, even if I win most of the time. That said, I find this game to be extremely challenging, especially if you do this with the scoring like I do.
Croc411, I really like those ships, very creative. I have made some myself that remind me of those designs, especially that construction ship with the cranes on it. Why don't you upload these in a pack, I would like to have them.
Well as far as I am concerned, it should be in the top 10, the game is that good and yes people are recommending it. Also, I think stardock now has all of the MOO community over here because GalCiv2 is a better game, simple as that. Not to mention it has MUCH better graphics and 3D at that. People have to agree, those graphics look pretty and get more sales so more people will pick up a copy. Kind of like women (and us guys too just ask your wife or girlfriend, not to mention cats and dogs too),
