wait a half sec, it was literally said that they made the steam ver in a way that it does NOT launch steam all the time. We are unable to use the Steam DRM as it is not suitable for use with applications which run independently of Steam itself. Most importantly Steam would need to be running at application startup which is a problem for apps which start with Windows itself. </block

is there any advantage or disadvantage over buying from one platform over the other? on steam you apparently sadly dont get the customer friendly DRM as it does use third party but pricing for example seems to be different for some places which might be interesting to know whether there are any real differences between the steam and stardock versions.

kinda sad, especially when CFX2 works and it kinda can scale (increase the size of the thing and/or swap to a cursor with a bigger image) and works flawlessly on 8.1 (okay animation scaling might be nice tho)

granted but I thought CFX2 back then wasnt in object desktop (might be wrong tho) as he is talking about events from longer ago. " This was working just fine until last year after I had paid my subscription, which stated I had to install it again. "

wait a second since when is cursorfx a subscription? I have purchased cursorfx half an eternity ago and I didnt need any subscription and CFX 4 too seems to be a one time purchase

vector graphics are kinda images too lol :-) but okay, because resizing pixel graphics not only up but also down was as far as I thought a kinda lossy process. but if cursors really need to exist as pixel graphics couldnt (theoretically of course) one create the cursor in vector, and cursorfx just render them as pixel graphics in the set size, when applying the config? in fact when with vectors the computer can be kinda awar

well High DPI is its own listed feature and high-DPI aware is nice. although I hope that also includes the opportunity of vector cursors (a feature I noted as helpful ages ago along with DPI support) https://forums.stardock.com/488040/page/1/#

thanks, also if I may ask what special has been done for high DPI support as that is a mentioned new feature on the new version, I have used this on high DPI settings for a long time and the only thing I could honestly think of for better highdpi support is vector cursors so they dont look ugly when upscaling but it seems honestly very weird that something works in Windows 7 and 10 but not in 8

well when you say it, I am not at limit now with it, but I was meaning the whole issue at a more general manner, not to forget that make switching everything to the new system makes it easier for the people that use the software since there are right now at least 3 cases for how activations work running here: 1) email+product code cannot be deactivated 2) email+product code can be deactivated 3) stardock account can also be deactivated (in modern

well I have it active on 3 systems semi-simultaniously right now. 1PC and 1 Laptop obut with WIn8 and 10 on dualboot, and I did need to reset it once already (Ticket ID #ADT-403-69289 from 2015) and I did already have a few reinstalls since that. and he certainly did tell me: You may need to contact us in the future to <span class="il" style="color: #222222; font-fami

also while we are at it it would be awesome to release a new version with at least the new activation system with deactivation, because I am on the trip of replacing a part of my computer stuff (some OSes crashed and need new install and I got a new computer recently), and no deactivation means I will probably sooner or later come back to you with resetting my activations

I got myself a nice new screen with 4k and the average stuff, but obviously without scaling everything is tiny as hell and well, the usual stuff, so I enabled scaling, which works on the OS, but apparently CFX doesnt really care about the scaling and both the cursor and the software come out tiny in the default settings. while I can enlarge the cursor (abracadabra, bundled within CFX) it gets ugly very quickly because it apparently is based on pixel-based graphics. this is why I would

well while it might sound arrogant I can see where it comes from, I am an IT apprentice and I see that people (including me) are often coming to a dev and raise questions to this and that option. and as I said there might be a question before unloading and even with an ignore tick. you could even go as far as saying that the tick only can be selected after the user once properly restarted start8, so he isnt stupid enough to be unable to restart it.

well I'd say we could make this mostly like classic shell does it. a close entry in the right click menu, but maybe with a question before closing (of course with a tick to disable this question in the future) that's my Idea...

think about MS Office 2013 a friend had a crashed MS acc and the MS ppl are too stubborn to give him his activation back...

13 Replies 14,653 Views

oh. that is nice to know, it should be written somewhere where it's easily seen, since it's really important... as I said the activation should check the hardware first in my oppinion and then consider whether or not to raise the number. also a remote kill of old ones would be nice (maybe with a re-activation each year or whatever and the activations vanish automatically).

you can "deregister" the software? where? I have this problem as well, but I didnt change any hardware on my Laptop nor my Main PC (you may use it on up to 5 PCs, I already asked) and as I reinstalled it on my Laptop I reached the max number. would be nice if the Hardware is checked before raising any numbers and if it's known not to raise it. btw I contacted the support.
