I am having the same problem, also with fences 2.13, starting a few days ago (I think I patched my windows 8.1 a few days before the problem started; in other words, I don't remember there was an immediate cause and effect. By right clicking my blank destop, my fences reappear. Double clicking makes them disappear. However, even though
