Stardock will be closed for the week starting on Monday, June 29th and we will be returning on Monday, July 6th. We will be monitoring support tickets and forums during this time but expect delays in responses during this time.
Found answer to this problem by Googling. Apparently others were also annoyed by this behavior. Apparently when installing Start8, I must have indicated I was interested in Modern Mix and Decor8, as they were also installed as free trial versions'. Annoying Stardock popups when first powering on computer: "Welcome to Modern Mix" on top of Start8 Settings Screen popup. Otherwise very please with Start8 Desktop screen. It even included the Camera App from Metro. How to get rid of the annoying popups before I turn the new laptop over to my wife?
I reinstalled using the initially downloaded setup file and every thing worked as expected and more. Was pleasantly supprised to see the Camera App available on the Desktop. I am presently impressed with Stardock/Start8. I'll need to figure out how to get the Skype app on the Desktop next. Emi
Start 8 did not install properly w/o indicating a choice for a Win 8 Matrix menu. I have uninstalled Start 8 but still have the download file I think. Should i attempt a reinstall? Start8 installed with the computer starting up after power down to the Desktop with all the Keyboard and Mouse buttons for the Matrix menu disabled. Would like to still have access to the Matrix to run apps such as Camera, Skype, etc. Emi
