Yes, I have bought a license for $10. As you say, many functions depends on a license, whether free or paid. I don't mind paying for a product I enjoy, I just don't want to be taken overly advantage of. And if Fences in one shape or the other should reach a more reasonable price level, I will probably look at it again.

I personally have also uninstalled Fences and have instead installed Portals Desktop Organization You can get a license for free to try it out for as long as you like, and make a voluntary donation of what you feel it's worth to you. (They make a humble suggestion of $4) Sure, it may not have all the bells and whistles of Fences, but it is doing a very decent job and is in continuing development. The only thing I can think of that would make me a customer again, would be a fences "light" version to about a third of the current price for a single permanent license. (I do not use subscription license for anything) I guess I won't have high hopes for it, but we will see.

Nice as it was to hear what thoughts were behind the price increase and subscription model, I am sad that this means a goodbye from me concerning Fences. I have been using Fences since the beginning, but skipped version 4 because I don't use all the features. I was considering upgrading to version 5 because Fences 3 seem to have become increasingly ressource-hogging in the last year or so. Fences is a great product, no doubt, but it has grown way too expensive for me. I only have Fences 3, and if that stops working some day, I will not be buying a newer version. More than 40 € for Fences 5 (I don't do annual subscriptions) is too much. [e digicons]:\[/e]
