Win7 I changed desktop location from one drive to another = all 300 icons are in one fence now

I saved the desktop layout first, then changed drive desktop location in win7, rebooted, all icons moved to one fence, so I went to layout and clicked on "restore" the one I saved but no change. I noticed in the layout display, that the current bad layout was there named "pre-install." I tried to fix it in the registry under HKCU stardock in the Initial and icon keys by changing them to the correct new desktop folder location rebooted but still all in one fence. I re
