I am hoping that when Leigh Alexander made that statement, it was poorly phrased, and the intent was to say that sexist men have such assumptions. That would still have been overly broad but sexists of both sexes do sometimes have that sort of view of the other sex. A friend of mine was told when he tried to join NOW that he cannot be a feminist because he is male and had no place joining NOW. That is ridiculous. I had an elderly male professor who had been a member of NOW since it started. H
