Thanks. And yes, I have been using an old version for a very long time. It's served me well and generally I don't think the feature enhancement race is worth it (i.e Windows 11). But I decided to try out the new version. However, I absolutely despise subscriptions so I'm trying to decide if it's worth a lifetime purchase. I miss the days when Fences wes about $7 for a lifetime licence. Alas, the entire software market is pushing for "annual recurring

That's not intuitive! And no, that does not work for me because I do not have Object Desktop, so I'm not shown that download list... 🤔 What is a direct link to the beta release that is open to the public or to existing Fences users?
I can't find the link to download the beta release? The links below just take me to my existing version downloads... Thanks [quote quoting="post"] With the Fences 6 Public Beta 2 release today, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues. Obtaining the product Object Desktop members can get the release from within <a class="external-link" href="https://cdn.stardock.us/downloads/

Got you thinking, right? 🙂
Here's another variant.... an option to wrap an outline around both the active tab area and the active title:
Hmm, I had not thought about varying opacity. I guess it would be OK to vary the entire group, titles and all according to the opacity setting. Or make them both separately adjustable, but that also adds complexity to both the GUI and code. Maybe others can chime in on that.
I just think that the color of the tab button should reflect the color of the tab itself even when not selected. It could still be a little brighter like they are in a selected tab. And maybe outline the tabs just a bit to define the edges? Another idea: add a "pop out" option to the tab menu. This would be temporary and not a permanent "undock" function. If the popped out tab is closed, it would revert back to the tab group.&nbs
I am a long time Fences user (15 years?) and just downloaded a trial of Version 6. I like the idea of tabbed fences. However, I wish that there was an option for the tab labels to retain the color of the respective tab ALWAYS. If I hover my mouse over a tab label (before clicking it) it will change color to the color of the tab. I would l
10/9/24 FYI - I uninstalled and re-installed Explorer Patcher from my Windows 11 machine with Start 11 installed. I did this to try and solve an issue with One-Drive where photo thumbnails were not showing up. The results were positive in several ways: Uninstalling and reinstalling Explorer Patcher seems to have solved the missing thumbnails in OneDrive Explorer Patcher remembered all the settings I had before the un-install! (see screenshot above)
Of course. But any "hybrid" solution has the same issue. All of these solutions including Stardock Start 11, are work arounds to Microsoft's drive forward without serious user input.
Well, I finally got back to building my Windows 11 machine after putting it off for months. At this point, I am still running Start11 and Explorer Patcher (latest versions of each). Update: forgot to mention that I'm running Windows 11 23H2 Build 22631.4317 And I have managed to configure the start menu and the Taskbar the way I want (lik
Thanks Basj, Maybe Stardock could investigate incorporating the functions implemented by ExplorerPatcher into Start 11! That would solve the problem and make Start 11 better..
So I've been a Start 10 users since Windows 10 was released and love it... on Windows 10. I recently built a Windows 11 machine and discovered that there are things Start 11 can't do that remain annoying. I did find another tool, "Explorer Patcheer" that solved several of these, but there are issues with explorer patcher, and with combining it with Start 11. Here are the main features I want to keep (which go back to Windows 7): <o
I see that now. That's why you have a "changelog" for each version. And I'm impressed that you go to the trouble of maintaining old versions... not many software companies do that. Still, the webpage is confusing... an introductory paragraph would help make it clear. That way you could sort the page by version number instead of release date. Thanks.
Personally, I doubt that is the reason since updating old versions significantly increases the cost for the developer, and these are low cost products without support subscriptions. But, if that is actually the case, then there needs to be an explanation on the download page.
I'm very confused by your release sequence shown in your release notes page... newer releases appear to have lower version numbers... Am I missing something? What the explanation? Thanks....
Basj, To stack quick launch icons, do the following: Unlock the taskbar Make sure your taskbar is 2 rows tall by grabbing the top edge upward Grab the divider line to the right of the quick launch bar and drag left or right to stack icons UPDATE: I noticed that
I have been a happy fan of Start 10 since it was released! I just upgraded to Start 11 today with version 2.05. I use the old Windows 7 "Quick Launch" toolbar ( I always loved this compact launcher ), and I also show all icons in the system tray. I am using a left justified task bar at the bottom of the screen. I also use a double height taskbar <span style="color:
That does help, thanks. Not exactly intuitive however....
Why is the "picture" icon missing in this forum? I cannot directly upload a picture... I was told that if the icon was not available that I should upload to a photo sharing site. And while this is possible its certainly not as convenient and a direct upload to the forum. Plus, long term reference of the thread is dependent on the photo being stored somewhere else indefinitely which experience proves is not always the case..... Did Stardock remove the ability to upl
How do I post a screenshot?
So I have a new Lenovo Thinkpad. I installed Start10 and it's working as expected... EXCEPT for one annoying issue. When I turn on the Windows 7 menu, the "sleep" option disappears from the shutdown menu. When I switch back to the Windows 10 menu, the sleep option returns. Sleep settings are visible in power options with either menu running. Any ideas?
