Basj, Good news - I can create new fences with Fences 6. Bad news - I had to uninstall Windows Deskscapes 11. I wonder if anyone has this combination of software successfully working for them. Regards, Jerry

Basj, Your suggestion to try a new profile gave me an idea. I logged on as the network admin. Fences worked as expected. I could create new fences. I logged in again using my profile. I was unable to create Fences. Clearly the problem is in my profile. It would be a huge task to rebuild my profile just to recover functionality for this utility. Perhaps the non-beta release of Fences 6 will repair the issue. Let's close the matter for now. Thanks for all
Basj, This PC is joined to a network domain. I have full network admin privileges. How effective will it be to add a new admin profile? This is starting to be a lot of work for a $9 application. Regards, Jerry
Basj, I am looking in Task Manager, Startup apps section. Is it normal to see Fences listed twice?
Basj, Ran the purge steps and reinstall of Fences 6 - still cannot create a new fence. Web session?
Basj, I do not have 360 Total Security installed. I had Fences 5 installed. I could create fences as expected. After installing Fences 6 Beta, that is when the ability to create fences stopped. Existing fences are still working, I just can't create new fences. Regards, Jerry
Basj, Your suggestion did not resolve the issue. I have uninstalled Beta 6. I reinstalled Fences 5. Still cannot create a fence. I may have to uninstall all Stardock products and start over. Regards, Jerry
I just installed Fences 6 Beta 1 on Windows 11 Pro, 24H2, OS Build 26100.3476 Windows Experience Pack 1000.26100.54.0 NVIDIA RTX A4000, Driver = 572.60 I rebooted the PC as instructed. Using the default Fences RMB option, there is no option to "Create Fence" The option to "Configure Fences" is available. I have tried the LMB as the creation option, but "Create Fence" option still not available. I hope a solution is available soon or will re-inst
Groupy 2.1 Feature Request: I have been using Groupy 2 since its beta release. I have observed difficulty in selecting Quick Access Toolbar buttons in full-screen applications. With the application in full screen, I could quickly move the mouse to the top of the screen to select a button. Now when I move to select a QAT button, the Groupy2 interface often opens above the QAT, which prevents button selection. I must move away and then approach the QAT slowly to prevent the Groupy inter
Windows 10 / 22H2 / OS Build 19045.2965 After opening a group that was created with Groupy Ver 1, the labels are duplicating. The "Brad" label incorrectly shown for my PC and a second "Brad" is shown for a co-worker. When I open a new instance of File Explorer, the Group 2 label reports as a label from one of my groups above
Thanks, @pelaird. I forgot to specify we are using Office 2016 here. Deskscapes is Version 11 Beta 5. I have changed my DS settings to match yours. I will report if the problem persists.
I too am experiencing a flicker where the DeskScapes animated background can momentarily be seen "through" another application. This includes Word, Outlook, and Excel. If I pause the DeskScapes animation, the flicker stops. Restart the animation and the flicker returns. I have tried three different video drivers and the problem persists. I have not seen the problem with Autodesk products or internet browsers, primarily Microsoft applications. <span styl
The animated background was displayed as expected, so I concluded that DSHost was running each time I rebooted, but I did not confirm this. The correct background displayed for several days in a row. This morning after the reboot, the display was correct for a brief moment and then was changed to a black background. DSHost was not running. For the next few days, I will try to confirm that DSHost is running each morning after the previous evening's reboot. <
Sean, Just a quick update. This time I went nearly a week before losing the background settings. I had performed multiple reboots during that time and the antivirus software ran each night. Is there any place in particular in the Windows Logs where I should look? I am not having much luck using the Filter or Find tools to search. Regards, Jerry
Sean, This morning following a reboot, the preferred DeskScapes background appeared for a couple of seconds and then switched to the black background. DSHost Application is not running. I did notice that Stardock DeskScapes 11 Service was running. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/49/85/4985858/3ffee49d-d47d-4381-a5c
After a restart, my Windows background had been reset to the black background as of this morning (9/20/2021). DeskScapes did not start, nor did it have the preferred animated background selected. This issue seems related to this thread: https://forums.stardock.com/499240/deskscapes-reverts-to-normal-photo-background Regards, Jerry
Sean, The black background appears when everything is closed. In fact, after a reboot this morning, the background was black. I had already reconfigured DeskScapes to use the animated background by the time I read your reply. I just restarted Windows Explorer via Task Manager and the animated background remained. I will reboot later today to see what, if anything, changes. Regards, Jerry
Sean, This morning the background has been changed to black and the animated DeskScapes background is missing or not enabled. Image below shows the Windows Personalize Settings interface. Next actions? Regards, Jerry
Sean, The background I was using before DeskScapes was the following: "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg" At some point, the background did change to black. This would explain the recent black background, but does not explain why DeskScapes stops displaying my preferred background, which is the following animated background
DeskScapes Community, I have noticed since switching to DeskScapes Version 11 that the DeskScapes background (settings) are lost or reset every 2-3 days. I set the background and it maintains the settings for 2-3 days. After that, DeskScapes reverts to a black background. I am using Windows 10 Pro 12H1, OS Build 19043.1165. I am using DeskScapes Version 11 BETA 4. I am an admin of my PC, so that should not be an issue with installs, account control, reg
This morning I installed the latest Fences update, Ver 3.10. A reboot was required. After reboot, Fences reports an error message the Explorer did not close properly. I have rebooted multiple times, but the error persists. When I attempt to "Enable Fences", the desktop begins to flicker. I would recommend DO NOT INSTALL this update at this
I have a three-monitor configuration. Currently, DeskScapes can apply a background to monitor 1, 2, 3, or All monitors. It would be great to have more monitor combination options. For example, allow to apply a background to Monitor 1 and 2, or Monitor 2 and 3, etc. Optionally, develop an interface that you can drag and drop backgrounds on to monitor configurations. I welcome your feedback. Regards, Jerry
Similar to IngoAltair, I too would like to see filters in portals. This should support: filename, type, date/time, size, etc. support for multiple filters ( E.g. filename and date, or multiple filenames separated by a delimiter such as semicolon) exclusion support ( E.g. a hyphen "-" would exclude that filename from the list) Regards, Jerry
That is disappointing to hear that Keyboard Launchpad will not be in Object Desktop. I will continue my use of AutoHotKey.
Will Keyboard Launchpad be included in Object Desktop? I have an active subscription, but I do not see it listed. It would be a great benefit if it were included so as not to have to maintain multiple product subscriptions. Regards, Jerry
