Exact same problem here on an Intel 980 extreme 6 core with NVidia gtx 570 with perfectly up to date drivers. On another game that had this problem, at least the flash on the screen came every 5 secs or so, then I was able to set the res to a 1080P res and it worked fine. But like you, It stays black after the first second. It's like they can't get the refresh rate right or something. I should know better than buying these indy games when they go on sale at Steam
