Trying out Start10 and I really like its speed and extensive Appearance options. Only thing missing for me are flyout menus with no vertical scrolling. I couldn't find such an option for "All Programs". I added a "Custom Place" personal folder, set it to 'display as a menu' and it works nicely, but on large lists there's still the need to scroll vertically (no flyout menu available). If this is currently not possible, any plans for a future version? Thank you.

Are you saying that black-background images can be used too, and it's just a matter of sticking to certain specifications?

There many of them here , for example. I don't know about the alpha channels, but black-background images look very bad on Start8 (the black background remains visible). The one I uploaded was a .bmp file originally. I converted it to png to try it with Start8.

There are many beautiful Start Button images available online (below is one of them), but they have a black background and do not work well aesthetically with Start8. Could you consider making their usage possible? Also, the use of .bmp files could be allowed. Thanks.

Found a bypass-solution to DVBViewer Pro not showing up in search: there are quite a few files in its folder with a filename that starts with "DVBViewer..." (various .exe and text files). Start8 get confused, and when typing "dvb" in the search, it will give 5 'Program' results that include .exe and .rtf files, but will never include the main application. It will only do so, if the full "dvbviewer" is typed. The result of this will be a "dvbviewer" result that doesn&#

It seems unlikely that Start8 would benefit from GPU acceleration, which is best-suited to such intensive tasks as 1080i/p video playback/decoding etc. You must have some other problem (with the UI responsiveness). About Windows 8 being slow to start, I agree but that's probably not Start8's fault. Windows 8 fools you into thinking it starts fast, because indeed the Title screen and the Start/Metro UI & apps are available very rapidly (much faster that Win 7's desktop)

You can do this by opening a command prompt in the Start8 install directory and running Start8 UNLOAD. To restart it just run start8.exe again.[/quote] Thanks for replying Neil. I tried it and Min2tray's shortcuts work normally when Start8 is unloaded. When Start8 is opened, the problem comes back. The Start screen appears instantly when the Win key is <str

Start8 seems to take over the Winkey+Function key shortcuts. I use Min2Tray and set Win+F8/F12 for various functions ("window always on top" etc.). Now, these shortcuts still work but they will also take me to the Metro Start screen, which is unwanted. I'm not sure if this is Start8's fault, because I also use Directory Opus with non-Function key shortcuts (WIN+A etc.) and they work normally.

Great update, thank you. The top-left hot corner works, when the task-bar is set vertically on the left. "Disable bottom left hot corner when the taskbar overlaps it" has to be unchecked. Is there a way to disable the huge vertical black bar that appears, when moving the mouse vertically, after enabling a hotspot?
