Hey. I was just wondereing why programs installed on ones desktop wont show up when you search them, just like in Windows 7 etc. Why wont they show up as program shortcuts in the menu? I am able to find every single program through the new Start(metro UI) but not the old style start menu as you can see in the below image. Do i just have to live with it and just accept this new way that Windows is handling it? Can anybody explain? I've added image showing a search on my installed Steam(it's the same situation with any other installed application):

Are you using v1.0 or v 1.01 of Start8?

v1.0 had an issue on non english installs where the search would not search programs, only control panel, my documents and general files.  This was resolved in v1.01.

You can see which version you have from the about page in the configuration UI.

Thanks! -  Yes i was using 1.0. I've now updated to 1.01 and it's much better. I am now able to see the programs, but there are a few which im not able to see. It has defiantly improved but it is not fully functional yet, i would say. Keep up the good work!

UltraISO - everthing from the folder but the exe shows up. And then there's two Dropbox shortcuts to show up. Also, is it meant to all clear when you backspace with no text?, like this:

Same problem with DVBViewer, everything but the main program shows up. It will only show up if the full name is entered in the search box. Also, utorrent (μtorrent) is nowhere to be found. Using v.1.01 on English Win 8 Pro x64 (non-English regional and locale settings).

DVBViewer is visible (full folder + program), utorrent is not. Another issue: a custom folder I've created and dragged to All Programs (before installing Start8) is not included in the search results. I've deleted it and tried adding it again, but it seems not possible with the Start8 menu.
