And a question that everyone wondered before and after Windows 8 was released. A major blunder and one of the many reasons (as far as I am concerned) that Windows 8 has not had a great response. But Start 8 was a welcome addition and throw in Modern Mix and you have what Windows 8 should have been to begin with. I do computer repairs and consulting and suggest Start 8 to all new Windows 8 users and they love it as do I.

Obviously there is some other issue at play here since my Start8 has worked fine (every version I have tried) with my Windows 8. I would also suggest using the newest version of Start8. Again...working fine here and no way I would run Windows 8 without Start8.
Out of the clear blue sky the same thing happened and the icons were gone. Reinstalling solves the problem but it should not come to that so something is causing a problem.
OK...so out of curiosity I decided to reinstall 0.98 just in case something was corrupt and sure enough the icons came back and all looks to be well. Knowing that I am upgrading to Windows 8 and the only reason I decided to do so was Start 8, this was and is a must have piece of software. That Start button has to be there for Windows 8 to be user friendly in my humble opinion.
I lost my icons as well but it only happened after a Windows 8 update was installed this morning. That leads me to believe that something was changed in the OS which corrupted the Start 8 menu. Just a hunch but too much of a coincidence I think.
