This problem appears to be similar to the one that I documented (Shortcuts within windows do not work) on September 8. Recently I began experiencing a problem where shortcuts within a fence stopped working. I would double click the icon and the screen would go blank.

Running 64 bit Windows 8.1. Have multiple fences on the desktop. One of the fences has several shortcuts. Recently I have starte dhaving the following problem: Double click an icon within the fence. Screen goes blank. I then create a shortcut and place it under the same fence. Same result. Anybody having this problem?
It wasn't in Fences. Norton merely said it quaranteed the file. Could be coincidental that it was found after I installed Malwarebytes and it found potential problems. I will try for the next few days to insure that a fence can be created. Again, thanks to all who responded.
I may have found the source of the problem. Norton found a trojan and removed it. Functionality appears to have returned. I will try creating a fence tomorrow to insure that the problem has been resolved. Thank you for you attention regarding this matter.
I have some software that makes use of the right click. I also use Windows tabs which I am pretty sur eis hooked into Explorer. Both of these, however, are on my old machine also.
I am running on a Windows 7 (64 bit) machine and I installed Fences. When I went to create a fence by right dragging I did not receive the message asking me to create a fence. I then uninstalled and reinstalled and allowed the software to create 6 fences. I was still unable to create additional fences. I then went back to another computer and exported the registry settings and then imported them back into my new system. I now had
