I was able to install object desktop and change my license key AND install the Fences 4 alpha, everything worked fine! Thanks!

Thank you I will give it a shot.
Hello, I am running a standalone fences license. I purchased a license for object desktop, which contains fences. I would like to use object desktop on the computer that I have been using fences standalone on. I don't want to lose my fences settings, layout, and data. I'm concerned that if I uninstall fences standalone, and install object desktop, I could lose my data. Would anyone mind giving me advice on how I can make sure I don't lose my dat
Still working on trying it out, a lot of other work on my PC came up.
Haha, well I would, but you have to promise I can re-install 3.0.9.11 if it doesn't work! [e digicons]:D[/e]
I have been running a virtual machine in order to test updates before I use them. If I only own one license, is there a way I can test Fences 4 in a VM without uninstalling my license from my main OS? Since this alpha is tied to Object Desktop, I doubt I will be able to install a trial version in order to accomplish this. Thank you. (edit: it looks like the licensing and activation system MAY allow me to do this, unless I run into some unforseen issues)
Hi, I love Fences. I use it so much and it is such a core part of my system that I would be broken if I had a bug with it and I couldn't get it running again. I don't want to make this a developer bashing post. I want to update fences without risk. I would very much like to experience the benefits of recent releases. When I updated to Fences 3.10, I couldn't get it to run with the "explorer crash" bug. I spent about 5 hours combing over my system tr
Given how they tried pushing everyone away from 3.09, and then they wouldn't put it back up for a while when fences 3.10 released as a broken mess, I would guess there's some copyright issue, or an overlap with another product. Not sure how else you could justify pushing out a buggy mess then making it hard to downgrade. The beta forums were full of these complaints for MONTHS before release. Before they incremented to 3.11 they had put up a modified version of
Is this the same problem as from the first 3.10 release? Is it getting better? I'm stuck on 3.0.9.11 until this gets sorted. I'd be happy to provide desktop environment information if I can be told how to collect it.
An extra reboot fixed things. Shrug.
Hello, I'm running on Windows 10 version 19043.1202. I updated windows, then my graphics driver and rebooted. The windows update is here: " KB5005101 (OS Builds 19041.1202, 19042.1202, and 19043.1202) Preview " And I installed the latest Nvidia Driver 471.96. It's normal (for me) for m
This is for today's Fences 3.10 release. I went through the pages of the "beta" feedback thread. Funny this issue seems to have been present but unresolved before release. Promising fixes/explanations that I found: Symantec Endpiont Protection, Forcepiont ASLR Security Mode Enabled in Windows: https://forums.stardock.com/502301/page/1/#3792138 "Shell Apps"
Dude, it's like you haven't used software before. Chill out and downgrade until it's updated.
Hello, I have been studying how different operating systems manage windows, and the add-ons that are available for Windows. I feel that Windows has stagnated very much with how it handles... well, application containers, over the years and also the desktop. I have already been to the "what do you want from the next fences" and after a while I realized that I want a new windows manager and a better start menu. I had joined the rebellion when Windows went f
I might be misunderstanding, but this might be close to onenote if onenote could also contain / represent your file system. I did some serious digging. I found that one can disable auto-arrange in Windows 10, so a folder could hold and arrange files like your desktop can. I decided that a "desktop" within a window would be a cool solution, maybe someone could leverage Windows 10's virtual desktops for that. MS (and Stardock) has been working on "Sets" where you
Hi, I've been working on Fences a lot, trying to get it to help me with my ideal workspace (I'm a pile based organizer). I'm looking for a way to combine virtual desktops, program windows, and desktop icons (in my own arrangements) into individual worksets (they also have to persist between reboots). I could combine Windows 10 Virtual desktops with different Fences desktop pages (that's another feature request) to get me further along in my goal.
Just wanted to note that I've seen a lot of people reporting of slow responsiveness in Fences. The threads usually dead-end without followup or success stories. I tackled the problem tonight. 300 desktop icons probably didn't help, nor does the 4k resolution. 1) Running the Purge .bat file and then reinstalling didn't seem to help immediately. 2) However this did allow me to run two uninstalls of Fences v.2.
It would be useful to be able to set Fences to roll down over other windows. Also, it would be nice to be able to set Fences to roll across (left-to-right or right-to-left) across the screen, rather than just up and down.
This would be killer for me. It would help me do something close to OSX (push other windows aside to give desktop access, then put the windows back exactly where they were) and it is
My previous post (attached link) got attention so I figured this might work.
Hello, I have previously had problems with Fences and certificates, I have added that thread in these forums as a link in this post. My workplace has pushed some new security settings and fences won't run. When I go to fences.exe -> properties -> Digital Signatures, I can select the "Stardock Corporation" signature and press the "Details" button. Windows shows an error icon and says "The revocation process could not continue - the certificate(s)
Meh, NVIDA came out with new drivers today and the display is fine now.
Hi, I just got Demigod on the steam sale. The game looks okay until I actually launch a round, and then all of the graphics have a blue and red shadow offset horizontally. It looks kind of like the old school 3d glasses type of 3d, but when you're not wearing the glasses. I've got an NVIDIA GTX 680 with the latest drivers, running on Windows 8.1 64bit. Any help would be appreciated!
This method worked for me. The problem icon was a shortcut to a windows 7 library that no longer exists. I had a library called "documents", and I had created a shortcut to it on the desktop. I later reorganized and got rid of "documents" in windows explorer, but the desktop icon remained as a broken link and it was causing fences to fail. I'm really glad this is solved, I hope stardock and get some code to handle cases like this automatically.
Okay, so I gave it another shot when the 2.0 beta was released. Fences still would not run, giving an error message similar to the original one. I saw the recent additions to this thread. Sure enough, the digital signature was not accepted by windows. I tried exporting a the cert and importing it into my cert store as advised by XcentricOrbit but that did not work. I was able to see in my certificate chain that Windows had a problem with AddTrust External CA Ro
uwedembski: That is very interesting. Is your computer connected to a domain or have you applied any other security products or settings? It seems that the common thread between us is the McAfee products. I had uninstalled most of my McAfee products, but there was some little helper thing that I couldn't get rid of so I gave up. Please let me know if you are able to fix this by removing McAfee, rebooting, and trying the install. I will try to uninstall all
