If Windows is updated do this Purge Deskscapes https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#reinstalling then reboot and reinstall and then report back here . I use Win 10 64 bit with No problem with Deskscapes and a wmv video plays on my desktop .

Only a WMV video will play as a video in Deskscapes. WMV video though uses a lot of CPU usage. Dream files can be either wmv or avi only. I use this video converter https://www.winxdvd.com/video-converter/ I make tons of Dreams . Open your Deskscapes program and add a wmv video and it will play on your desktop like a dream , loop might not be good though.
