Installed build 14366 and it now works.

On Start10 1.11 on Windows 10 Preview 14342, one particular program doesn't display its icon when pinned in the Start10 menu. All other programs seem fine. I tried pinning the .exe, or a shortcut, same result. I selected the icon from the .exe manually from the start menu shortcut and still it doesn't display. I realize this may be a problem with this particular program since others seem fine. However, the icon did display in the first day or so after installing Start10. After that it
I have to share this rare moment of which I am quite proud. Playing as the Torians, I've seen the Thalan engage in influence warfare. You will notice that the starbase modules are not vanilla ones, they are modified ones, fewer, more powerful and expensive to build. They are all in the Diplomacy branch of the tech tree. The 35 one is the default one available to everyone, the 55 one corresponds to the Diplomatic Relations tech, and the 80 one corresponds to the Expert Di
A few possibilities: Perhaps the bases weren't so heavily upgraded as you think, being in the early phase of the game. There's also an ethical choice that gives a big bonus, or even immunity to revolt, can't remember exactly. While the Korx are usually evil, they may turn good, or neutral. Maybe they got some other tech that made them hard to convert. There's also the reeducation center, that makes the planet immune to con
So this is indeed a bug that still needs fixing. *cough* Derek *cough*
So has anyone seen the AI actually upgrade its altars yet? In GalCiv 2 the AI doesn't upgrade its influence starbases even to this day, 6 years after release :S
I'm sorry, this was already reported here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/433374 But it still isn't fixed.
I have an army containing spiders and other crawling beings, and one Young Crow Demon, and this makes the whole army able to fly over water, mountains etc.
It was a bug with the Resoln Water Temple, it will be fixed in the next patch.
Indeed I only had water shards, I forgot to mention this. Glad to hear it's known.
This might only occur when upgrading the altar by directly selecting it. When upgrading from the city build screen, it sends it in the queue.
So I've come to the conclusion that since the AI is generally reluctant to upgrade its influence starbases, my modifications, i.e., reducing the influence modules to only 4, very powerful, expensive, and expensive to research, when the AI does decide to upgrade its influence starbases, it will be easier for it, since even after 2 modules, there's a 90% increase in projected influence. Being expensive and tied to certain diplomacy techs, it ensures that it's expensive to spawn infl
I actually took qrtxian's word, and modified my files so there are only 4 influence modules available, all on the diplomacy branch, except for the race-specific ones (Krynn and Thalan). I made them powerful and expensive, and also made the techs expensive. They're balanced because they're very powerful, but fully upgrading a starbase will cost you close to 2000bc. I've made many test-plays today and I've seen games with no influence starbases at all, games with ple
Removing the influence branch modules all together and upping the government branch ones to compensate might work. The only problem would remain in the AI not using race-specific modules, like the Thalan or the Krynn ones, but I probably could live with that, if the AI would competently upgrade its influence starbases. However, before I begin doing this, I need to further test-play to observe current AI behavior.
Do they also upgrade them to potentially pose an actual threat? In a 1v1 game against the Krynn they placed 2 influence starbases near my homeworld, but failed to upgrade them.
Yes I believe the AI only uses modules from the diplomacy branch, and I've never seen them go past the first two, except for the minors. Even if I give them the culture techs, they don't use the modules on the starbases. The AI seems to enjoy economic starbases the most, followed by military ones, which it develops fairly well. I've seen all races build influence starbases, so I don't think the race matters. But indeed on a smaller map they seem to build influence star
I have seen games where the AI would place influence starbases near other people's (even my) planets. So sometimes they're able to make use of them, but it is of no use if they don't upgrade them.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention I am always playing on Challenging, so there's no AI nerfing going on. Good to know it can at least cast the Spell of Making. What about upgrading altars? Has anyone seen the AI do this?
I've just cast Curgeon's Volcano on the Pariden capital, with whom I have a non-aggression treaty, and they didn't declare war or anything. They didn't seem to mind me sending their capital into oblivion.
I'm in turn 400 and none of the AIs have upgraded their altars, so they only get 1 mana per turn from each. Also, from the 2 opponents that are left, Pariden has Weak and Medium quests left even in their own ZoC, but I haven't seen any quests left in Yithril's ZoC, except for the master quest. Is the AI even capable of taking on the master quest? Or casting the Spell of Making?

I also have this issue, and have had it for .980 too.
I have updated my post as the most important part of it is still true for .981. I should also mention I play with ground cover set to none, not that it makes much difference for FPS. Also, I noticed forests and cities affect performance the most.
I found the article via my subscription e-mail to Space Sector, I didn't know about the other thread. I'm glad to see Brad read the article and they're taking action as a result of it :) Thank you for the link!
3D is fine once you get used to it, but there is a bit of an adjustment period. On the other hand, 3D is totally unnecessary in these games and only exists for developers to flex their e-peen.
3D map is only fine if it's like Star Ruler's. It's realistic, it's beautiful and easy to navigate, yet it maintains the plane structure, which happens to be approximately true, at least for ou
I was about to post a link to this as well. It caught my attention too but I must say the seem a little too ambitious. I do wish them the best of luck, and will probably pledge $10, but ambition alone isn't going to build a great game. I mean even GalCiv 2's AI still has some faults, even if it's the best 4X AI, and Brad is kind of an AI expert. Art and music are very very important for this kind of game, and they seem to be doing good so far, with the music at
