The poster above you agrees with me, and AoW has been brought up on these forums by many other people in the past as a shining example of where Elemental could aim for. Gamerankings.com also has Shadow Magic at 83.59%, slightly above the base game, while metacritic has it a 82% with a user score of 9.0. It's an amazing game, and you are the first person I have ever seen attack it. You are welcome to your opi
*snort* *hack* *cough* I just almost choked on my mini-quiche. AoW:SM is my favorite 4x game, way at the top of my list, it's what I compare every other game in the genre to, much like many people here do with MoM. There was absolutely nothing "ruined" in that game or by that expansion.
"snort" "hack" "cough" Fraid you are "very wrong" about that as it's the worst of the whole bunch of fantasy 4x games. I think instead of spending 100's of hours trying to make the AI better or counter human builds they should just NERF or dumb down some of these builds players are reporting they get away with against the AI. Reduce init to cap at 25 or so, reduce dodge to cap out at 25 or so, reduce dmg to lower levels so battles last longer and take more tactics instead of 1 shots. Reduce armor values let's have some player units getting clobbered for a change like in the real world. :{P

I had all my troops in the city and got not the glimpse of a chance against this unbeatable freak. That is not really fun. So there should be a border for such strong monsters, not to ravage cities.
yeah playing with self imposed rules works fine for individual players, but on the other hand, there will be enough players who play the game once or twice, find an overpowering strategy, win easily and stop playing the game because it's too easy to win. imo, if the devs can improve the balance to avoid that problem, they should do so. In MOM It was like the last spell you got to after a long and grueling game. You prayed for Spell of Mastery. lol But, also in MOM you were told it was being cast and you always had time to cast a global Dispell if you had it. Rarely did the ai ever cast Spell of Master vs me but I did cast it a couple of times. Most games went to total conquer state because it was sooooooooooo much fun. I wish I could say and feel the same about this game but the music sucks and it's too damn dark all th

Balance in most all games is subjective an opinionated at most. Everybody has their own ideas of what is balanced and what isn't. Personally I don't want to see balance as MOM didn't have balance and it is a GREAT game even today. Everybody finds a template that works for them and all of a sudden everything else is underpowered because they won with it. My philosophy is this: If you win a game with one type of play then do not use that plan in the next game. If you win with spears

Monsters always seem to run out for many players why not have regeneration huts that are invisible so that wildlife and regular run of the milll monsters keep activating on the map from time to time? They should generate from some random pool that is within 5 levels of the faction they are closest to when spawning? This would certainly keep the human player on
