Hi. I had the same issue with Vista and then 7. The only way I could fix it for good was to use the onboard sound on my motherboard instead of my Creative Xfi, which I had to pull out to play DG. I tried updating drivers, reinstalling the card and DG without success... Hope that helps.

I'll add my voice too, to say that my simspeed has even increased a little since I went from Vista 64 to W7 64. What hardware did you try W7 on?

Yes, I've been playing DG on 7 64 for a couple of months, and it's almost flawless (apart from the random unhandled exceptions everyone gets from time to time). I have even seen my simspeed increase a little since I changed from Vista 64 to 7 64.

Actually, I've realised the same thing last weekend. I was on Vista 64, and all of a suddend I started experiencing sound issues with DG, after having played since end of April without issue. I wanted to try Windows 7, and since reinstalling DG and my sound card drivers didn't solve the issue, I went ahead. And as the OP, I am now experiencing higher simspeeds. Off course a "fresh" install may be the cause, but my Vista install, despite being several months old, was very well

The problem seems to be that even cancelled games are not cleared from the list. There's several times the same ones, and it's almost impossible to join any game...

Unfortunately it doesn't work this way for the moment. Getting the same artifact that was already purchased will cost the same amount of favor points, hence the issues with players getting negative favor. At least, that's what's happening for me.
