Yeah, starcraft 2 is getting talked up a storm but I don't see any direct competition. I, for example, am getting both. The gods know we need more AAA rts games and SCII and Demigod are both very unique when compared to each other. Anyways, instead of asking for hype let's let them keep their money and let them put it into far more important things, like extra content. We can hype the game by word of mouth, I already have all my friends reving to play it and even bought

Many amazing games lack hype up until release unless they are: 1. From a huge company (Pretty much Blizzard or EA) 2. Overhyped through an extremely expensive ad program 3. A sequel to a well known game and/or popular series (Zelda, Halo, Half-life) Also, let's be honest. Most people are up to date on their hobbies. Gaming is ours. When's the last time you seriously gave a crap about some ad? It's bad enough that many ad agencies are s

Not so seem argumentative or anything, but again that is based on perception. Nothing happens "because", not even magic. Nearly every world has purpose behind magic. Let's take an extremely popular one: The Forgotten Realms. In this creation, magic may not be completely understood but has constant application. It has to be researched and learned, there are laws that nearly always remain the same, and it has various sources. Even if you don't understand why a rock moves because you tel

Uninstall the game if it's installed then run ccleaner (free software, google it) after you uninstall it to remove any lingering registry entries. Also do the typical, delete the game folder ect. Try creating a new folder (you can name it "games" if you want) and then try installing the game to the folder instead of the default location. Make the new folder outside of program files, it can be right inside C: drive where the windows folder is. This fi

Yup, that's right. Well, that's currently right.. it could change, but it's unlikely that it will.
So does that mean that I will be able to participate in the beta??? I preordered around a week or maybe a cpl of days ago when the game had already gone into closed gamma. I though that I will be able to lay my hands only on release Will I still be able to get the benefit of pre-ordering and be able to be part of this beta if it is released????
Unlikely. They stated the next time they w
I am well aware of the fact that there have been sucessful science-fantasy mixes. I just like to forget about technology every once and a while and just enjoy pure fantasy.
Even "pure fantasy" is just a perception. Look at the definition of technology: ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technology ) The method in which mages make their robes and the hand tools farmers use&n

Competitive games (or minigames) always have balance issues. It's almost a requirement. Competitve players will always do whatever it takes to win at any cost. Something that seems balanced is broken by a clever few and then fixed in response. That's kind of how it works. Just give it some time, plenty of unbalanced issues will surface in actual play and will then be (hopefully) fixed. Even great games like starcraft and Dota followed this trend.
You are right WarlokLord, all maps are unique 3DStudio files, the only thing the Demigod editor does is letting you place the flags, citadels, towers et.c As such making custom maps will be very hard since each one of them require soo much detail. Not really more than Custom maps for 3D-Shooters. Yah the artistical quality of the 8 official Maps is very high but custom maps don't need to look as good

I'll try both, but so far I think Demigod will shape out to be a better game. We'll see though, no point in putting loyalty into something that hasn't proven itself yet. That just defies logic. And the older generation should never complain about graphics, we grew up on nes and sega and loved it; we know gameplay > graphics always and forever. I also want to echo the worries about targeting "casual gamers". The foundation behind it is solid; there's simply more of them these d
The best way I can put it is that Demigod has no soul. It follows the DotA formula too closely without distinguishing itself, as much as fans on this board disagree.
I hear that a lot, and while I can't make a distinct comment as I haven't played the game I only see a few hard comparisons to DOTA from what information I can glean. And I loved DOTA and loved HOSK even more. Honestly, even if it's true, why does it matte

I think options to do both is the best way to go, but that's just me. And I think people misunderstood what he was saying. He is trying to prevent the type of SRPG player that saves every turn. This means if, for example, you screwed up and made a bad call and had one of your units destroyed in a manner you were not skilled enough to see beforehand you couldn't simply reload right before you made that move and fix it. This creates a situation more akin to reality; you as a commander m

There's quite a few without a map editor that do just fine. Still, I'd love to see a map editor for this game. It simply speeds up the speed of content release at no additional cost to dev's (asides from releasing the editor). And everyone loves content. Mmm, content.
Can that cpu controlled player then be taken over by a real player?
Likely not, but it would probably be a far better idea than using CPU's. They did that in Dawn of War 2..the only time it worked was when your teammate didn't even have the basic concepts of gameplay down and was spending half an hour in base choosing what unit to build and not capping anything. Still, even then you were only slightly less screwed

I agree, this is something I was thinking about a while ago. Games like that are far more challenging. The Fire Emblem series, one of my favorite console SRPG's, has been doing this as well. I think it would add a lot of depth and flavor to the game as I've always enjoyed having death mean something rather than just loading back the previous save state I made right before I attack someone in case it doesn't go my way. And yes, I could just not use the feature at all, I know. But it

Preordered and eagerly awaiting release. I truly hope a strong community forms around this game, more so because of the modding ability. (Warcraft 3 and it's simply amazing modding community comes to mind.) Of course I should be kept fairly busy between Demigod, Starcraft 2, and Diablo 3. If the last two games come out this lifetime, anyway.

Sorian's mod should be the way things work normally, I agree with this thread and think the fix his mod proposes is fair, simple to add, and would fix the issue to most people's satisfaction.

Thanks. I preordered it just now from Stardock and also bought a copy for a good buddy of mine, he got my Dawn of War 2 so we can play together but lack of any real 2 vs 2 + horribly idiotic team mates + overpowered Nids and Marines had us stopt playing eventually. Hopefully the community in here is far better, seems like it so far. I like big team match ups but it's never fun when idiots who can't even take simple advice ruin what would of been otherwise a nice, action packed match.

Sci-fi and Fantasy at their cores aren't much different; you guys are simply over reacting. It's funny to hear someone say an enchanted gem with the ability to shoot forth flames is that different from a nano-flamethrower or that a dragon is much different from a reptililan alien. There are also plenty of bleed-togethers such as steampunk or just High Fantasy with technology in the mix. Airships in many fantasy worlds are an example. If you think about it hones

Sorry for budding in, I'm a lurker for now until the game comes out but I thought I could be of some help. I'm actually a tech and I've been building computers for quite some time. I don't recommend buying a laptop for gaming, they generally don't have the power and when they do they are far more expensive than a desktop counterpart. Also, heating is a huge problem with laptops. A laptop will, at this point and time, always get to a point where gaming will cause it
