Boarding would be cool, and having to deal with marine pods and demo pods would be another tacticl decision (keep shooting ships or divert fire to pods? Use pods as weapons or decoys?) that would improve the game. Planetary invasion would be a little superfluos, but maybe clture should be improved to convert enemy planets rather than just make them rebel and become uncolonisable until the culture is removed. Mayber A planetary assualt ship for the same purpose (but using culture to steal plan

You are made of win! Publish now! You and the guy writing the back story on the Vasari advance are brilliant and if Stardock have any intelligence (which they do, they made SoaSE) they will sign you into exclusive contracts for publication. I'll buy whatever you print!
Make the Ori the pirates, the other races do as you see fit, I'm not complaining at all. The Tau'ri are obviously necessary, as are the Wraith, and the Goa'uld would be awesome, but the Lucien Alliance is also an alternative, as are the Replicators. Tok'ra would probably be part of the Tau'ri, and have differnet system lords filling out the Goa'uld. Asgurad would be cool, maybe stole Asguard tech could be included in the replicator asernal (unless you ma=ean the Pegasus replicators made by th
Levelling cruisers would horribly screw up the balance of the game, especially with being able to choose abilities withput costing cap ship points. However, I like the idea of hving different capital ships costing different amounts of points, but the amount of cap ship points you could obtain would have to be increased to macth the new scale. Maybe a truly dedicated carrier with weak weapons, lots of fighters and matching abilities, and a planetary support ship for affecting planet develpomen
Seriously, you need to contact Stardock and make them sign a contract, I'd swear this was the hidden story but I seriously doubt even they thought it out this well. Your idea of the Vasari having an artisan based economy that is effective but does not scale well as compared to the TEC manufacturing methods is genius in explainging the balance, and using the name of the Silence is also brilliant. The political insights are extremely interesting and logical for their scant detail (as can be exp
What the online game really needs is an "advanced start". Start with a higher pop cap, a small fleet and 2-3 close together worlds, and advance the pirate npc's accordingly. I agree that the lack of use of diplomacy absolutely sucks, basically it's a trust issue. A ceasefire will buy you time, but unless there are locked teams, noone signs a peace treaty or shared vision, though trade is common because of the credits. With an advanced start you can cut out an hour or two of play
Here's the first cry for help in this thread: Does anyone have even the slightest guess at what I could be doing wrong? I have recently downloaded Sins of a Solar Empire and find that I can't make the frustrating little bugger play on my laptop. It meets the minimum requirements, I updated my drivers and I have DirectX 9.0c. Do I have o save DorectX in a particular spot or what? I know my video card checks out, but I can't find the specs for my sound card. Any ideas or shots in the dark would
