Fences doesn't align its icons to your desktop's grid. In order to place the fence anywhere you want, it needs to have its own grid separate from the desktop's. I've only used the free version, and only on Windows XP Professional, but it uses the same icon size and spacing settings that my desktop uses. (Not sure what the difference is in the way Fences behaves on the two systems, or even if there is any.) <span s

This is a problem that I noticed with the previous version. When I scroll downward in a fence the icon text will leave behind artifacts. I recorded a short video clip of the bug in question to help clarify the situation. As you can see, the cursor "sticks" when it is moved directly from a fence to an open window. The fence looks as if it still thinks the cursor is over it and the cursor looks like it did when it was last over the fence. That is, until I move the cursor over the desktop and everythin

Yes, I understand that there are alternative ways around this problem, but I still prefer the ease of being able to download a file to the desktop so that I have direct access to it without having to open any folders. (I clean up every now and then so my desktop doesn't get too messy. And then there's Fence's quick-hide feature...) (edit: See first post.) Hopefully this is already in the works, but just in case I thought I'd post it here. Fences desperately needs to be able to automaticly move icons out from underneath itself. It can get to be quite a hassle moving around the icons so that the fences won't end up on top of them when choosing a new layout preset. (Unless you have all your desktop icons in fences.) Yup, that worked. :) Here's the value that was causing the problem: c:\documents and settings\administrator|My Documents? After removing the code above, I decided to enable the quick-hide exclusion for "My Documents" and copy the value for that. For some reason the quick-hide feature seems to have an extra copy of "My Documents" in it's list of quick-hide exclusions. When I enable the exclusion for My Documents, two copies of it are shown in the list. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that would fix it, but I have tried disabling and enabling Fences to see if that would do anything but it didn't. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I use ALZip to manage my ZIP files, but any time I delete a file in a ZIP archive located on the desktop, the ZIP archive dissapears. (At least I know how to get to the actual desktop folder, as I can access the "invisable" ZIP file that way.) ALZip automaticly saves the ZIP archive whenever any changes are made to it, so that might have something to do with it. The "disappearing act" only happens when I delete files f
It's nice that there's an option to have a solid outline around the fences, but I think there should also be an option to choose what color the outline is. (Or at least an option to always have the outline color black. Another feature idea, outline width adjustment. It just seems a bit skinny as it is and I'm fairly sure it would look out of place with some Windowblinds skins.
I run my desktop in 1280 x 960 resolution. When I try to move an icon to the right edge of the screen Fences moves it one space to the left. (I have my icons set to align to the grid.) I can get the icon to sit at the edge by placing it just right, but the position it gets moved to on the grid is misaligned compared to the rest of the grid. (Slightly to the left of where it should be.) I can provide a screenshot if necessary.
