Can't activate Trinity from retail code in Sins of a Solar Empire Stardock.net Forums

I purchased Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity through stardock.com in 2012. Having re-downloaded and installed it, I am unable to activate it. I have a valid product key, and am able to register the product fine through https://www.stardock.com/accounts/register, but whenever I go to activate the game to actually play it, it does not work. It failed to activate the first time with an error, and then went through several steps
