I used to work around issues with Windows Live Mail and Messenger with Windowblinds 6 by excluding wlcomm.exe (Communications Platform) from Windowblinds. This seemed a sensible solution as it allowed the suite of programs, which do use their own skins, to still have their pop-up and maximised windows skinned by Windowblinds. I've had a troubled upgrade to Windowblinds 7, but having solved most of it, I was surprised by the appearance of my Live apps. It see

I was quite happy as a Windowblinds 6 user with excluding wlcomm.exe to solve the problem and maintain a good look with Windows Live products under XP. Since recently upgrading to Windowblinds 7, I have been horrified to find that all Windows Live applications appear to be totally excluded in a way that is hard coded into Windowblinds 7, meaning that if they are maximised, or throw up a pop-up (e.g. spell checking) the Windows Classic theme appears. That's crass and horrible, fran

Still in a world of pain, and making support aware! Am running version 6 today and it's a relief, though even that has issues with trying to get back to the exact version I had! *sigh*

Wise words, nevertheless I did remove all traces from my system, by cleaning the registry and all WB program and skin folders. After then installing again, I seem to have a much better installation, though it lacks some of the skins that installed the first time!! I agree that I don't expect to see UIS0 skins on an XP system though. Some of the problem is me getting used to what is different in WB 7 that might not actually be a fault. Regarding the app

It's not working properly still, in any case, elements of Windows Classic won't go away so am going to uninstall and restore my system back to 6.4 for a re-think! I can then be patient, but I can't use it as is. Thanks. I might have to rip out all traces of WB and try a clean installation. I don't know for now, it shouldn't be taking so much of my time lol.

I used the verify option in Impulse and it decided that WB 7 was not installed correctly after all and there was an update in any case, so I ran that through and everything works the same as before, ie properly but still without the missing skins replaced. I do have Sabertooth, but am still interested in Cideral, etc. I do take the point, 2of3 that the Aero related skins might be for Vista or Windows 7, as opposed to Aero like skins that do run on XP. I will try the email

Thank you both, 2of3 and DrJBHL for your rapid responses - I will look at both your suggestions this afternoon, with thanks!

Hi Everyone! I just upgraded from Windowblinds 6.4 to 7.10 as I was sent a discount offer by Stardock, lol! Over the weekend since this I had issues with skinning, mostly that there were lots of grey elements of Windows Classic coming through. I finally fixed this by uninstalling WB 7, and by doing a system restore (XP) way back a week to a known good day for 6.4, verified my skins were displaying, and I was able to then install 7 again via Impulse. Since doi

It's happening to me too, "Internet Not Available" 1.9 freeware verseion, location Norwich, UK, as of yesterday (17 November) and continuing. I'm currently assuming the problem is not at my end as it was previously working for ages (sometimes even has the right day of the week too lol)

Window Blinds 6.3 on XP 32-bit Service Pack 2: Since updating to 6.3 Windowlinds will not list any of the animations that are included with many of my skins, for example I used to force the use of the animations in "Aeroglass V5". The skin list is built properly for applying the other visuals, but only the bundled skins show in the animations option screen. I tried an uninstall of WindowBlinds followed by a fresh download and install, but can't get past this. I force animations as some of the
