In the help section of Word (the little light bulb) and ask it for page color. You can then select a page color such as white or very light gray, and this will solve the problem in Office. For other programs that just use the default system setting, such as notepad, well you will just have to live with the theme color. It should not be black however, so the above poster's suggestion should be looked at first.

The best thing to do is to exclude all graphic programs from being skinned. Go to the icon for Windows Blinds in the system tray. Right click and set the "configure" option. There you will find in setting a option that says "per application" use that and locate PSP and tell Window Blinds to exclude it. I do this with Paint Shop Pro, Painter, Adobe Photoshop, Topaz filters, etc. Most graphic programs have an issue with being skinned.

Not good advice to turn off UAC and Smartscreen. Without it programs from the net can install without asking. I installed with no issues from Stardock. As far as tuning things off, My brother in law ended up with ransomware, because he browsed a few dodgy websites (not porn) and he isn't the best with updates... He had turned off UAC and so there was no notice of anything installing. Next morning there were two notes on his desktop with the ransom message. He lost everything because
