The intent is that the player adjusts his strategy based on the randomness of the maps. Without that, where do you draw the line? Do you Ctrl+N until you get nearby iron or crystal? What about a nearby fire shard for your fire based custom sovereign? If you have good locations you have to have comparatively bad locations. If you want them all to be "good" then you probably want a starcraft type balanced locations. That's important in multi
My only suggestion with eseence is let that be the number of maintanence free enchantments. You could cast additonal enchantments on cities that cost maintanence. But have it increase in cost. The first enchantment has a maintanence of 10 mana per turn. The second has 15 mana per turn and so on.
It would be nice to cast a spell that increases the essence of a city by 1, at a maintanence cost of 5 mana per turn per (essence +

There used to be a pre-made sovereign for this race, but now you have to make a custom sovereign to get this race now.

It has been mentioned that quests can be redoable even if you die in the middle, but that has not been implemented, but it's possible to mod it for your convenien

Great read. I've been waiting for a behind the scenes look of why particular elements are chosen and why things were scrapped along the way. On this side of the fence, we don't see all the reasons why you added something or chose to do something. We mostly have to deal with the results and say if we like it or not and sometimes I feel we can't give appropriate feedback on the new feature. Keep up the good work and continue to produce a quality product with good story

I haven't found a specific quest to where you immediately deny the quest something happens. But in the middle of a quest you can definitely do this see the three sons quest. Spend 100 mana to heal the woman. That could easily be your deny and poof something happens. I think to get your effect, from the current system you are looking at is to egg the player to investigate beyond the initial investigation of the quest. "You see a man with a multitude of littl
i'm sure this has come up in conversation before, but doesn't it seem counter intutive, that a settlement will have a higher grain or materials rating if the "wheat", "fruit groves", "clay" and "iron" are near a settlement, because your giving a boost to something you are already giving a boost to...
I don't see the counter intuition here. The point is when the map generates the grain and material ratings then they p

Currently, I don't think there is an option to place map markers (places I would like to note on the map). I know its late in the beta, but would it be possible to place our own map markers on the cloth map? (little flag pins that when high-lighted shows up some info that we wrote there) I'm not asking for a delay, but maybe a future patch to implement this feature (unless it already exists and I can't find it).

I understand the desire for competitive starting locations, but I prefer the randomness of the starts. I am a purest when it comes to gameplay, I take the roles as they land and deal with the limitations. Of course it yields a more difficult game, but I play to play and not to win. Some of my most enjoyable games are when I lose and the game turns to how long can I survive, even after 6 hours of gameplay to a loss, I had fun playing. I don't believe in imparting this gameplay to othe

From my experiences of playing the game I've come to the following conclusions with the tile ratings: Fertile land is mostly random around the map, and when you have fertile land you get increases to grain, material, and essence. I think that all fertile land starts with 2 grain, 2 material, 0 essence, then depending on the terrain nearby bonuses occur to the grain and material tile yields. Forest, iron mines, clay mounds increase nearby material yields on the fert

Merchant II skill states that it gives +3 gildar each season, but I am getting +4 gildar each season. I believe this is due to Merchant I and Merchant II stacking on each other. I'm not sure if this is the intended effect, but the tool tip should specify this behavior.

Just a curiousity, is it possible to set the chance of a random event be tied to unrest of a particular city? Also, is it possible to have a variable chance per turn tied to a particular stat in the game. For example, a chance of spawning angry mobs around a city with an unrest of more than 50% or more. More specifically can a random event be tied to the unrest of a city. Say these angry mobs have a chance of spawning around the city with a .25 * (unrest of city) ch

I do like the epic pacing and I agree with the assessment about the heros getting strong too quickly. It makes sense that since tech is taking longer, it translates to taking longer to learn things and thus heroes should level up slower to account for learning things slower, as well.

The assessment is unfair about this game and modding. The game is in many regards a sequel in terms of game engine. Thus, the mods for e:wom can be easily be ported over and thus lots of mods can be there at the release. Many older games weren't as easy to mod for many people. The point is that frogboy is partaking in a new paradigm in gaming and allowing the game to be modded simply. I look at it as play testing a board game and a person is creating house rules. I've

You video card has Optimus and dxdiag doesn't detect your actual video card namely your GT 630M. I run on a GTX 555M and the game runs smooth and fine. Goto you nVidia settings and go to manage 3d settings. Select the preferred graphics processor to be the High-performance NVIDIA processor. That should force any game to use your nVidia card. To double check that it is using the nVidia card you can go to desktop menu and display the GPU activ

I'm excited to see beta 5 come out. At some point in the development of the game you have to move forward with what you have so you can finish the game, otherwise every game would just stay in beta. I'm excited to see the balance changes of this game and allow me to finally play with modding stuff (I didn't want to play with things that would eventually change). I would like to know if we get to play with the map editor with the beta 5 release? I would like to t
