Impulse.exe is akin to a simple redirect. My interpretation of what the EULA says about the updates is based on reasonable expectations relative to my point of view (relative points of view, definitions of words, and such is a huge point of friction here it seems). You think I've misinterpreted the EULA and likewise I think you've misinterpreted it. 5 months, 5 patches, and all of them stand-alone. Now suddenly this brand new next-generation content system called Impulse shows up after 5 months.
mehoo462 . . .
There's something big you're missing. When you buy Starcraft it mentions BattleNet as part of the game and something you need for updates, downloads, matchmaking, and so on. When you buy WoW it mentions that you must play on their servers and take what they spoon-feed you in order to continue to play. When you buy Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, or the Orange Box you're told right there in writing that you must install and use Steam to play the games. When y
I recall doing this on Doppelgangers as Advent and Fulcrum as TEC. As Advent it was simply a matter of pairing Progenitor Motherships with Radiance Battlecruisers. After I had 2 or 3 of each kind I'd start building other capital ships. I'd always make sure the Radiance would spearhead assaults so the AI would target it first, thus leaving the Progenitor to do repairs each time while also attacking. I also had heavy defenses during that game. I'd also always micromanage the targeting on
Akkans are the weakest of the TEC capital ships. If you're having trouble fighting against them, then you're doing something wrong. If Akkans are invincible to you, then I'd hate to see how you fare against a Dunov. Get more ships, use countering abilities, and avoid the line of fire that comes out of an Akkan. A pack of light frigates can normally handle an Akkan if you know what you're doing.
-Returning Armada: -Now costs 2500 credits, 200 Metal, 500 Crystal to activate. -Fleet sizes summoned increased from 25-45 to 45-90 supply. -Cooldown increased to 10 minutes at all levels. -Phase Stabilizers now have 0 max antimatter.
What are you guys thinking?! People are requesting that you attempt to balance Returning Armada so the Vasari player doesn't have virtually unlimited numbers of free ships showing up periodically. Nobody has re
I still cannot understand why people like Diablo. I tried both the first and second games and neither managed to hook me. Both were highly repetitive. There were some works by other companies that were Diablo-like that did get my attention though.
Doesn't anyone else, besides me, despise the idea of a karma/reputation system? It really isn't necessary. There's plenty of people on here that type quality stuff who have 0 karma. Likewise, there's plenty of people with many karma points whom, in my opinion, are somewhere out there in space with their ideas and opinions. I really don't like playing high school popularity games and that's what karma/reputation systems appear like to me. Karma should be optional. Many forums give you th
It's still hideous. :p I never liked the design of the 1730. I run an older XPS Gen 2 from 3 years ago. It does its job well. However, in a year or three when multicore GPU's increase availability in notebooks, I plan to upgrade.
Protoplazm, you've highlighted a lot of the reasons why I completely avoid online play with people I don't know. The host of that match likely does not have a blacklist and used that as an innovative excuse to avoid having to deal with competent opponents. It seems to me that your experience played out as the typical beating up of other people for fun and then rubbing it in excessively at the end. It's something that's all too common online today and one of the top reasons I stick to single play
Bioshock's activation scheme has been removed? Too little, too late. It's still got Securom on it. This is a shame too, because I was going to buy Bioshock a few months ago had this DRM not been present (toss up, Bioshock or another game -- I picked the other game). Now it's no longer an appealing game. The same will likely happen to Mass Effect, which I still refuse to buy due to the DRM.

Did I mention SecuROM broke my DVD driver?
Just because a disc has strange co
Do you realize that this would make your horrible ongoing disaster in Iraq seem minor ? Do you understand the the rest of the world cannot understand how you are allowing your country go down this frightening path ? Please do not do this.
1) Actually, go watch the news and you'll see less and less reporting on Iraq especially now. Why? US and Iraqi forces have substantially reduced violence and now control the last militia stronghold. Iraq has been getting things
kryo However, Impulse appears, to me, as tag-along invasive software no differentImpulse doesn't "invade" anything. The dock and such are there so that people are more likely to want to use it, but if that's not your taste, simply turn the dock off and only run Impulse when you need to download something. It loads to the tab you left it on last, so if you don't want to see the community or store stuff, you won't need to after the first time you start it.
It is invasive w

drank Quite honestly, I was thinking about buying Political Machine. But then I went to your website, saw that I'd need this Impulse thing, clicked through to this article, read about a whole lot of stuff that doesn't interest me, and decided that maybe I should hold off on that new game!
Zubaz YOu should be able to buy it at retail by the end of the week. For updates, you'll need Impulse though.
Yeah, I saw that there's a box version on the way
It's pretty sad that the Spore trial comes with some sort of DRM in which caused it to deactivate my install or disable my online account. I'm not sure what happened, but I can't use the online features anymore due to some sort of validation problem. This is a major issue when it comes to confidence in the final release. This is probably linked to spybot search and destroy (as well as spyware terminator) detecting an unauthorized attempt by a garbage-named dll file to make registry changes in th
Wait a minute, do you have to manually register and associate programs with Impulse or does it to an initial scan? Manually registering and associating programs with Impulse one-by-one would be time consuming on the initial install or if something should happen to your system (such as hard drive failure) or you change computers. This is something that, if not already addressed, might need some attention. I'm kind of with Mumblefratz here, but I will sometimes let useful software run or
Sorry for not joining the praise bandwagon, but I'm heavily concerned about performance and resource use. This looks like a bloated program that attempts to usurp many of the features already built into Windows when it comes to managing programs in particular. Performance and memory use concern me, not pretty interfaces and excessive versatility. I already don't like that Steam doesn't want to comply with my OS's native look and feel (which is a theme called Visty for XP -- the y instea

Unfortunately, each time I exit the creator these two creatures fail to show back up for editing. Spore seems very buggy in the way it handles creature files. I will be watching for the full game to come out, but I'm not paying $10 for a demo pro
1) Advent's Malice needs to be buffed because it was excessively nerfed. The number of targets it applies to should be increased. Currently I think it's 8, 16, 24. It should be 8, 24, 48. Otherwise, the damage should be applied instantaneously again. 2) Returning armada should be restricted so that one instance of it can run per planet, not per structure. 3) TEC's Marza needs its planet bombing ability buffed significantly to make it worthwhile. It also needs the ability's radi
All i here is whine whine whine. LRM spam doesn't win games. I think some of u just dont want a bruised ego, and the rest are cynical about humanity in general.
What is a win? What is a loss? It's literally a collection of electrical signals representing 1's and 0's. A win is merely a unit of data incremented in the win field, and a loss is merely a unit of data incremented in the loss field. Achievements, ranks, and promotions are literally commonly a mere binary toggle from 0 to
Come Online, we need more players online...Seriously...Please...
No. The AI doesn't disconnect half way through a game because you took out its favorite planet. It also doesn't spam annoying messages or predictably spam the same long range frigates all day long either. When you outplay it, the AI also doesn't whine and moan about it or accuse you of cheating. Also, if the game gets too long, you can save and be sure the AI will be there when you get more time to play.
Sethpenguin, PC gaming is going through a restructuring and revitalization right now. Some companies are tearing down the ghettos and putting up useful modern amenities (Valve) and others are dilapidating buildings to contribute to the problem (Epic Games, EA Games). It's commonplace in the industry today for a company that once knew the market to consider 40 million attempts to log online with pirated keys as 40 million lost sales (Epic Games seriously thinks this--they are consuming the world'
How new are these graphics cards? Does the crashing issue appear on other games? There was a point where Dell knowingly shipped defective mobile GeForce 6800 Ultras about 3 years ago. I should know since I received 2 defective ones and had to fight to demonstrate that their hardware was causing issues. The third card worked like a charm. The cards loved to fail while playing Battlefield 2 and Counter Strike Source, but ran just fine under Far Cry and Rise of Legends. The crashes were ne
Steve Mackay Changes to malice were necessary to improve its impact on runtime performance in large battles; the large volume of weapons fire made it too computationally expensive to spread damage each time any of the dozens of affected targets received damage. The ability is functioning as intended in its redesign, although a bug that reduces its damage potential caused by multiple Progenitors staggering their use of malice has been identified. This will be fixed in the 1.1 pa
