Modders can actually afford to put more time into making content than Devs can simply because they don't need to have as strict quality and testing standards. That and the fact that there are many more modders than devs (for Sins anyways) means this is going to be inevitable. No modder could have made ships that looked as good as the titans though, and the new lighting system as I understand was quite revolutionary as most light/shadowing meth

Anyone try using the Corsev purely for defense? This is about the only use I can find for it. It works well fending off pirate raids or invading fleets. In fact, I constantly find it capturing opposing ships when used for that purpose. When used offensively I haven't found a purpose for it. It doesn't appear to do enough damage or support my other ships well enough to justify its cost. The Dunov nearly always comes across as a superior value against the Corsev.
Now I'm thinking too much about buying Rebellion cause basing on the videos I could see on youtube, Rebellion seems THE SAME as the vanilla game i played . I'm a bit disappointed cause i was hoping for something more..... Ok we got Titans and Corvettes , some new playing strategies, but WHY no new soundtrack , new sounds , a "refreshed" UI , new textures and so on ??? I'm not asking for a new game, a SOASE 2 (which however could have been reasonable) . But wh
Maybe in Sins 2 hopefully in the future?
Isn't that what Rebellion is supposed to be? I was rather surprised when I started playing the beta and found that all the same old ships, models, textures, and gameplay mechanics were still around. I had really expected Cobalts and Javelins to be replaced with newer versions, planets with moons, and, well, more changes from Trinity.
Are you taking into account all the buildings you'd have to change too? What about trade drones and resource ships? You couldnt raise just one aspect to a new visual standard, you'd have to upgrade everything from planets to asteroids to previously mentioned minor ships, buildings and constructors, on top of fleet. It just doesnt seem feasible without pushing up the system requirements, which is a bit late to do at this stage wi
I hate this idea. Pirate bases are already loaded with enough obstacles. Giving them a starbase would just further delay the inevitable. I will agree with you on the AI not using starbases to prevent bombardment from taking over planetary governments. I have not seen the AI do that yet. It's possible we have not played long enough games to come across the AI using such a strategy. It does tend to handicap itself by splurging too much on fleet supply therefore making the necessary
I'm still trying to figure out why they instituted a flat limit of 4. Let's say I play 1v1 on a 10 planet system. I can have 4 novaliths. Seems excessive. Now let's assume I'm playing 2v2v2 on a 100 planet system. 4 seems inadequate now. I would have preferred a percentage-based solution, configurable number/slider, or just a checkbox to turn super weapons on and off. I like super weapons. They were abusively bugged in a previous beta iteration. They are not bugged now
I've used the homeworld winning condition in all of my games so far. It allows me to quickly end the game if it drags on for too long. All it takes is 2 novaliths targeted at the enemy homeworld. It's much faster than manually mopping up the enemy when there is a clear victor. The only defense is planetary shields. In my last game a hard TEC AI was left fighting against me, also TEC. They started firing novaliths at enemy homeworlds and taking them out reducing the playing fie
It is most likely that the titan's insides look like this for performance reasons. I'd rather spend my polygon and texture detail on the outside of the ship where people are normally going to be looking. Spending it on the inside seems like a waste since most people will never look there. We can go down this hole pretty deep. Should cabins with windows get rendered on other capital ships? At some point a line needs to be drawn. I would much rather see a better Corsev model than the in
I think the auto-downloading of custom maps, scenarios akin to some of the campaigns in SW Empire at War, expanding the diversity of the game (more planet types, wonder structures, ship customization, etc...things that make the game less nearly identical to Trinity), and a map layout preview feature should all be higher priorities than a ladder system. I'm not a competitive player. A ladder system is the last thing I would really care about. I actually think organized ladders
I hate this idea. Don't like being hit by 100 long-range frigates? Then build your own 100 long-range frigates. Nothing is stopping you. Build a bunch of strike craft carriers. There are ways to answer spamming of one unit type. I tend to roll with balanced fleets that don't have issues dealing with such large numbers of long-range frigates or other frigates.
Same issue happened to me tonight. All of a sudden my homeworld started promoting enemy red Advent Loyalist culture. I lost both adjacent planets due to it and had to reload from an autosave. Putting a broadcast tower at my homeworld did stop it. However, the problem came up again when I wiped out the pirate base. Red culture was all over it and prevented me from colonizing it. I decided to eliminate red at this point and then was unable to capture any of the planets they had left behind due
Not sure. I don't use that capital ship because it's ugly and just as ineffective as you describe. On Tuesday I played a small game and was repeatedly attacked by pirates. The Crosev consistently captured pirate ships when they were attacking one of my planets. I wound up with 2 to 3 light pirate ships. The boarding ability did not appear to work against the heavier pirate ships. I've read on this forum that it's not intended to work in unfriendly gravity wells.
I started a couple of 3v3, 4v4 yesterday using AI cruel as partners. Prior to the patch, the AI teammates would spam 'Send Envoy' missions non-stop. With the patch yesterday though- the missions seem to be gone all together. A few of the games I would get an initial mission from on the AI at the start of the game well before I even had the envoy skill trained then after that there would be no missions at all. Each time these were on p
Seriously 2 hour games? I guess I like long space sim games... In any case, I explained Rebellion to my friend this way. "Did you like Sins? Then you'll like Rebellion. Did you not like Sins? Then you won't like Rebellion." At its core it's still Sins... it's just not enough new stuff. Simple as that. I bought the original Sins on day fucking 1 and I love and support this company
On a large enough map I suppose I could stomach a long game over the course of a couple weeks. I'm not sure that 50 hours would be acceptable. I tend to like my matches to stay around 2 hours. If they go longer than 3 I get annoyed. At the other extreme, I stopped playing Starcraft 2 against other humans because matches lasted 5 to 10 minutes. That's just way too short. 1 to 2 hours is pretty much the sweet spot for me. [quote who="User45701" reply="1" id="31302
sure at the start the turrets and mines help but once u start getting more and more cap ships and a titan they become next to usless and just fold like paper, perosnally i think there should be an upgrade for later in game which lets you make them better so they can actually deffend somthing, espcially the loyalist tec as there all about deffense
I don't see a problem with this. If it's the end game and I've spent tons of ti
I just wanted to give some general feedback -- nothing too specific. I was itching to play SOASE again and noticed Rebellion had been listed on Steam with the beta option so I bought it. Here are my impressions. The Great: Really like the titan class ships. They help prevent the game from dragging on but can also easily be over-relied upon. New music is very nice. There is a particular new track that plays for TEC that makes me think of some great sci-fi franc

This situation is the exact reason any and all updates to my system are downloaded and installed only when I specifically manually begin the update process. Automatic Updates be damned! All these things promoting ease of use often lead to headaches that could have been avoided by simply inspecting what goes on the system instead of it doing things automatically. Looks like most of the problems are focused around Zone Alarm. I have no idea why people are still using that product when the
The only reason why Sins had stand-alone patches at all was because we originally had targeted Impulse for release in March but we got delayed working on another project and weren't set up with Stardock Central to handle Sins updates.
Have you ever missed a bus/train/boat before due to a delay? That bus isn't going to stop for you once it gets going even if you pound on the side or chase it down the road. You were delayed 5 months -- you missed the Sins bus. If you want to avoid an
Raziaar, I think why you haven't seen starting locations addressed is because of the limitations of the map selection process. This isn't like some strategy games where you can click a starting spot or line up numbered starting location to select where you and opponents will start. From what I've been able to gather, starting locations are controlled by some sort of placement algorithm.
o0Yinhe0o Case 'n point Epic's "Epic" failure UT3.
Ron Lugge Whether or not you like the manner in which the patch is distributed has no bearing on the fact that the patch is freely available to all registered users; the only requirement to downloading it through impulse is A) being able to run Impulse (which you can if you pass the Sins system requirements) and B) having the CD key to associate with your Stardock account (and CD keys are a perfectly legitimate copyright technique, even you must agree with that).
You're
