Perhaps the AI has changed over the course of the patches, but I recall very clearly in 1.02 having giant fleets come through wormholes to destroy one of my planets and then flee back through when I finally got my fleet back there. They would use it quite effectively to hit any world of mine that was a jump or two away from it, and then would retreat back through it when my superior fleet approached.

Bah. If we want fairness, the options to determine what level of resources there are on the map should keep it even throughout the planets. I agree that it should be added back in as a game option. Random should always be just that. Random.
also fixed particle disappearing bug
If you could explain that in more detail, I'd really appreciate it. Been wondering what the problem was. Also, for anyone who's using this great mod like me for just the graphical enhancements, I tried it earlier and it already appears to work with 1.04.

Finally got a chance to try out 1.04 and while I haven't played very long yet, I have noticed one odd quirk so far. At various times now the fighter squadron I built on my Akkan will just hang out in a gravwell instead of following the capital ship around as it travels. There's no enemy that could be distracting them and they're in fact not moving at all. Just parked at a dead stop while I move my Akkan around. They'll still respond to dock/launch orders and I've seen th
It's because Steam doesn't set the working directory for the .exe properly. If they fixed that bug in their code, the game would launch properly through their client. This isn't something for us to fix, nor do we have any interest in doing so even if it were.
Appreciate this being addressed, Yarlen. Thanks for the answer as to what's causing the problem. Like I said before, I apologize for making an assumption that turned out to be erroneous, but the uniqueness of the
Actually, its the opposite way around. They didn't bother to code it to work with steam -- rather than coding it to not work with steam.
I don't see how this is a possibility as games that came out long before Steam ever developed a chat overlay feature seem to cooperate just fine with it without any special coding. In fact, as I just messed around with some of my older games, the only one I could find that didn't allow me to pull it up was Final Fantasy VIII. A

While I think it's a silly argument that Sins should be distributed through Valve and have their company earn a share of the profits that Ironclad/Stardock deserve, I do think it's a bit of a strange business move to apparently deliberately code the game to function incorrectly when launched with a rival company's program. IC/SD isn't losing money when I've paid for their game through their service, but I wish to launch it through Steam that I already have opened for other things such a
whenever I quit from Sins, Windows Media Center started without my initiating it?
I've heard of this problem before and the solution then was to check out your shortcut that's launching the game. The previous person with this problem had an additional command after a hyphen that was launching the Media Center. Can't guarantee that is your issue, but at least it will only take a second to check to see if your command line is clean of any extra modifiers.

I'm interested as to how problems with NVidia's drivers are supposed to be fixed by Ironclad. But mostly, I'm just sorta amused at the whining like Monk appears to be. Any calm, rational post with a complaint or concern would be addressed on this forum and usually promptly. Failing that, there's always the support e-mail route. Good luck resolving your technical issues MMojo and hope to hear you're enjoying the game soon.

I can only guess that your DVD drive is having trouble accessing the disc on your main computer then. You're not out of luck though. Just download the game through Stardock Central. If that's not an option, I'd contact their support at https://www.stardock.com/about/contactus.asp or I believe you can directly email them at support@stardock.com You may also want to tell us if it's giving you a filename for the file it can't find. There may be some possibility that it needs so
Thats fine, the flak are great tanks!
...You're kidding, right? Flaks do 25% of their damage to light frigates and capital ships. Both of those vessel classes do 100-125% of their damage to flaks.
And if they show up with a few flak frigates you're done.
Consider me unconvinced. I don't deny strikecraft and cruiser carriers might need to be tweaked, but I tire quickly of this unjustified argument that they don't do anything right.

The element I haven't seen discussed personally interests me. What happens in an MP game if your main fleet targets all flak frigates for destruction first and your carrier group either keeps its strikecraft docked or has their attacks directed towards safe targets? Won't those large groups of strikecraft work quite well once you've thinned down the ranks of flak frigates with regular combat ships?
