Right, this was an email, so if it looks a bit funny, forgive me. Ok. The files you need to change are in the 'GameInfo' folder. They are named like so: RESEARCHSUBJECT_MAXCAPITALSHIPSTECH0 RESEARCHSUBJECT_MAXCAPITALSHIPSTECH1 RESEARCHSUBJECT_MAXCAPITALSHIPSTECH2... up to level 7, they're for the TEC Empire, the Vasari are PHASE, and the Advent are PSI. Open number 0 for each race and change this line: researchModifier modifierType "CapitalSh

The great de-smartifier.
But its like when you're a child, your not supposed to make fun and pester the animals at the zoo, but you still do. We all knew not to flame and taunt him, but its damn good entertainment, you can't deny that. ;) To what Annatar was saying, that would
Yes, there are quite a few mods out, and I gave another guy a quick tutorial. Give me a moment and I'll dig it up for you.
Curses... I'll have my revenge *Sinister look in eyes*
Mmmm... The .MESH files in the mod package can be opened in a text editor. So for basic things like changing the texture the mesh loads, there fine. As for 3D modeling, I'm not sure. I think I saw somewhere you have to use the 'Run...' command on the Start menu, but don't quote me on that. Good luck anyway.
Sounds strange, but might I inquire as as to why you are replacing originals? Using the mod folders is a lot safer, and easier. Edit: A whole 2 minutes ahead of me, damn, I must be getting slow in my age ;)
Phew, he's gone, we can all relax...
Hahaha! This is like a circus. And I checked you out on the WiC forums. How many clans and aliases do you have? I counted 3 clans all lead by you with a slightly different name. There are 2 possible reasons why you created multiple names. 1. So you could be in multiple clans, which shows that you really have little loyalty to one group of people, or 2. You were banned for Stat Padding or trolling on the forums. So far, my experience with you suggests the latter.
Lol, you didn't answer any of my questions, and you threw out some more riddles and nonsense. I agree with pndrev, you've got the sure signs of a troll. Well, keep it up and you should be removed sooner or later.
Impressive, very impressive. Keep up the excellent work. Quick question though, are you changing many .entity files, or is it mainly textures?
I think it's a slap in the face to all the hard work the developers spent on creating the ACTUAL game, which far surpasses the time they spent on creating the mod tools.I just think it's rude and disrespectful.
I think it was a bit "rude and disrespectful" for you to come on here and talk nothing about the topic which this thread is here for. For a 33 year old (if thats your real age), you seem to be very full of yourself, almost as though the world owes you a favour,
Don't you have to convert them with one of the tools in the mod pack? I'm not into modeling yet, but I'm pretty sure one of them is the converter for meshes... Can someone with modeling knowledge confirm this?
Get use to it. I'll be around for a long time to come.
Well, I hope you learn to read a bit better. His unedited title was "Is anyone making this map", so you still misread. He also posted in this section because, whether you've realised or not, there is no 'Mapping' section. And there have been plenty of posts to do with mapping, nearly as many as modding. To the OP, a very large undertaking, but if you could pull it off, then it would be nice. I lik
Yes, correct. The 20% and 30% don't make a huge difference, but over time can help a planet develop quicker.
I would put my bet on it being in the Textures folder, and the easiest way I've found, is to download a DDS thumbnail viewer. Search Google and you should get it. It will allow you to view the .dds files that mainly comprise the Textures folder, and should make finding your elusive file easier.
Yes, this got me to begin with and its a good point m8chor. I thought red was bad, and green was good. But no. Red is a decrease, and green is an increase. Also, all values add or subtract from the original, they alone do not state anything. So, structure build cost in green is an increase in cost, therefore a bad thing to have. And build rate in [color="#FF0
Photoshop CS2. I recommend it highly, takes days to get used to, but there are plenty of tutorials out for it on the web. You can use it for simple stuff, like the alpha channel, or really complex stuff with crazy blending effects and what not. I'll PM you details.
You need to have the latest patch (1.2 I think). Also available from the downloads section.
I've got another mod coming out very soon, that includes the bonuses and oceanic planet, plus new additions to bonuses, and 3 new planets. Wait for that release, then merge them. Look out for it, either today or tomorrow.
Oh, you mean the Z-axis for the actual planet? No idea, I thought that was to do with the Galaxy Forge. Good luck anyway.
You want to increase the height available to move in around certain planets, right? If thats it, then I've got a bad feeling you might not be able to do it with the current Mod Tools. I didn't see anything in the Planet####.ENTITY files to do with the Z-axis, and if its going to be anywhere, it would probably be in them. Good luck anyway, I hope someone else can help you out. EDIT: Are you sure its not directly linked to the size of the movement area defined in the pla
There are numerous mods out that boost defence. They are scattered around this forum, just have a browse and see which one fits you best. Or, if you can wait a day(working tomorrow daytime GMT), then I'll write a little walkthrough on how to triple the number of Tactical slots per planet, or increase the power of Gun platforms, hangar bays, or whatever. Or if modding really isn't your thing, leave an exact list of things you want changed, and I'll whip up a quick mod for you (
Tutorial to make your own planets [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=443&aid=300431"]Here[/link]. As for the _cl and _da, not sure what they stand for, but _cl is the light side of the planet, and _da is the dark side of the planet. The planet textures also have an Alpha channel, which seems to effect its reflectivity. White will reflect light, good for the oceans, ice caps, and snow capped mountains. Black is non-reflective, grass
My next update will include the 3 planets (plus the old Oceanic planet), a few new research subjects tied directly to the new planets (colonisation and population cap increase), and 25 new Bonuses (plus the old 20 from my other mod). That will be in my new mod, but if you just want the planets, I'm sure I could knock that up for you, if you like.
Not far on mine now. The 3 planets are done, the added research is done, and the bonuses are about 60% done.
