Only problem with that is the fact she doesn't wear clothes..... 2. Silent but Deadly, Unclean Beast rips a big one, everyone on the map is stunned for 4 seconds and all nearby take 300 damage.

But we have to remember that dota is not a) the only one to do that, b) not the first It's like saying sup com should have a starcraft cameo because it uses the same game play concepts

I don't believe so innociv, I could be wrong though. You might be thinking more along the lines of dota which has 3 basic skills 1 ultimate, and 1 skill every character has. The way I saw it is kinda like a tech tree (ala sins of a solar empire).

Why have multiple trees when you can have more demigods? Yes the hybrid things is a cool side effect but remember your choosing these skills in game so while your picking your skills from a large list (and there are already 8 demigods to know all the trees) the other demigods will be smacking you around.

While that is an amazing idea (AND POST!) I think demigod is not quite going that way, but that'd be one hell of a game if it did. Not that I'm endorsing it, I prefer games of pure skill, not ones that I have to play a lot to have any chance of being on par

I don't think they would add more skills... That would mean changing the maximum level... More demigods with new skills yes, but adding more skills doesn't work in my mind...

You have the EXP killing blow thing wrong by the way. Its which TEAM gets the kill not the unit or player, if I as an enemy demigod can kill my own unit before the enemy can kill it then they shouldn't have gotten anything from it. (Plus the whole analogy of xp = learning is out dated itself, since when do people learn how to spit acid or cast fireballs accurately safely and effectively in minutes)

35 Replies 67,689 Views

Well heres a question in 5v5 game do you really want some griefer messing with your TEAMS units? The game is supposedly like many AoS style maps (from war 3) DotA being the exemplar of such. In which the idea is that as a team you have a base (which is the goal to kill) and it spawns some rather basic offensive units which run down pre-determined paths, the AI pays for them and controls them. And as a player you can buy and control your own. But yes there will be plenty of units (many of which a

I think when people say war 3 they're talking about custom games that revolve around heroes. (i.e. dota!) Other then that I love all the ideas here as well.

79 Replies 117,257 Views

On the issue of not enough skills, I could give you a list of at least 500 dota/demigod/aos style skills, and each one would have a diffrent purpose and tactical use. On top of that even if the same skill is used by two people, the other skills will make the hero play completely diffrent. So skills is most defiantly not a constraining factor.

I think the way you describe is kinda what I was thinking: Lets say at level one a demigod could choose 3 abilities, 2 one level abilities and a two level ability, the two level ability is standalone, but the 2 one level abilities are prereqs for other abilities, kinda like tech trees or talent trees, except that there is only one tree, and you can get everything in it. As far as synergy and such I wholly agree!

Yay! we see more of queen of thorns, and for that matter the fact that rooks light does come from other towers, as well as some sweet shots of the torch bearer, nice update over all.

If you can play SupCom or FA you should be able to play this just fine as it's an optimized version of the engine and has less units. (there is a demo you can dl to see if you can run it)

On the point of fading menus, look at how sins did it, thats a great example of cool looking transitioning menus with out the waiting. (they moved the background between planets, while the menu would transition instantly) And plus demigod already has awesome environmental art, why not show it off! And another point, why not just have a drop down box in the options menu that has things like: Constant health bars Constant health bars + mana bars Hover over health bars<br/

Though remember that there are items and abilities which can help you get where your going faster, for example in the hands-on article the guy describes a ability which allowed him to teleport! (not saying I support huge epic maps, I don't but I am saying there are ways to speed up travel)

Yay it's good to know there is actually someone who cares only about the UI around (as opposed to ui + other more interesting things), which means I can hope for a great UI! Also, thanks for the journal as always! the frequency is great! and makes waiting for the beta harder and harder. Finally : LUA!!! yea moddiblity! (of course I should of figured cause of the sup com engine)

53 Replies 116,974 Views

The thing is diffrent demigods could have diffrent numbers of skills at diffrent places in the skill 'tree', I just hope it's possible to get all of them at one time. Example: a hero might have 3 skills they can get a first level, one might have 2 levels, another 4 and the last only 1 level but is a prereq for higher skills while another demigod has 4 1 level skills to choose from but then again thats just my hope!

61 Replies 29,650 Views

Who needs diverse skill sets for that? (refined is good though) in dota you can play a hero in quite a few ways depending on what items you get and what skills you get first (and they only have 4 skills each in dota). In -sh (same hero) games with my friends the winner is typically the one who can think of the most innovative (and reverse the norm) way to play the character. And it's a lot of fun even though we all end up having the exact same skills, how we use them, and how we use our characte

Well random hazards on maps would be kinda stupid if it was part of the GAME, but it if it was built into the MAP, at the map makers prerogative then its better, especially since they will be taken in as part of the maps strategy and part of the skill needed to play the map well. And they don't have to be random, capturable buildings for example. And something like lava taking out a lane would be awesome (though a warning might be nice) as it would require you to rethink your current strategy.<b

Hey if they release the beta before PAX they can get earlier bug reports and hardware compatibility issues fixed, meaning they won't have to worry about bringing it to PAX and having computer issues (unless of course they bring their own computers, then my reason is dead in the water).
