As a new player, I dislike pirates. The issue is that they distract me from learning what I need to learn to get through the build-up (early) phase of a single-player game. I might turn pirate attacks back on once I'm comfortable with the game UI, tech tree mechanics, and build-up strategy.

I may have had the same issue. My DVD had many zero-byte long files -- and those were the ones that came up with a message indicating the file was not found. (Click "Ignore" when prompted to Retry/Ignore/Cancel and it'll skip the file, until it finds another zero-byte sized file). I copied the entire folders and files over to a folder on my hard disk, then ran the installation from the hard disk (ran setup.exe). Copying to HD appears to avoid the error messages about those zero-byte
I'd like a game start option that has only a colony ship. From there I can then pick the planet I want to colonize, and build up literally from square one. It's the opposite on the play-style spectrum to the start option where you have all stuff researched and you're just there to fight the AI. That type of start option never appealed to me, as I prefer the world-builder aspects of the game more than just launching it and fighting. I see there is mention of "The "All Labs/Fac
Plugging the internet in to your PC "comprimizes" the computer? What the heck do you have on that computer? Nuclear launch codes? Trying to protect from a Cylon infiltration or something? That's sounds silly to me. Think about what many people have on their PC. Things such as emails, passwords, and 'stuff' that often fall into the category of "personally identifiable information". The issue for me is that if some
Thanks for the link to the zapper. Coincidentally, I'll need to hack the galciv2 demo install as well, since I just this moment went to uninstall it from Stardock Central and - of course - it failed with an error. lol.
The cursor XP thing is just one of the several issues mentioned. Point of fact, the registration key provided via email post-purchase returns a message indicating the key is not valid regardless of whether or not I install via Stardock Central or uninstall/reinstall from the link to the dl.stardock.com site given in the purchase confirmation email. As for IRC debates... not much to debate. Program installation shouldn't be so 'wrong'. Another example I didn't mention in
Wanted to post a bit about my experience as a new user of various Stardock apps, including the Object Desktop 2007 Network, some freebies from Stardock/wincustomize, and Cursor XP Plus. 1) Bootskin BSOD. Yes, I realize it's not supported. It's still broken and deserves to be fixed or removed from the site. Part of the issue/complication may be that there are at least four versions available. 1.0, 1.02, 1.03, 1.05/b 1.09. I've read that the 1.09 version may actually work, but since
vidstub.sys BSOD here as well. I need to boot into safe mode, re-run bootskin and set it to the default windows/microsoft 'skin' to avoid the BSOD. What info is needed to get developers to produce a functioning bootskin? Is the issue nVidia specific?
