well that posting didn't work well here's the fix i just figured out.. if i put all the scripting on the buttons, and not on the background at all, i can have it working properly, but any gap between the buttons will make it shrink again, but it should work out how i want it to this way
alright you mentioned earlier that if i wanted to make buttons out of these areas, i'd have to do something different.. well i don't get how to do drag and drop either, so i thought i'd just make them shortcuts and put the parent as the menubackground, but the only way to make the menu come out is to put their activation on none, and then they can't be clicked.. is there not a way i can script the shortcuts to just act the same as the rest of the menu when hovered over? i trie
yes, but what am I trying to do with the event of the button. Should I set the main background's width larger? is there a system in this code for making a simple variable for on or off i can check for in the grow / shrink codes? I just haven't had a chance to really look into the code, but making these work is pretty much all i intend to do for now. i'll look into the drag and drop, but that's not even too important for how i'll have it set up thanks
alright, thanks a lot for the tut, just a few more things i need to figure out as a complete novice. if i wanted to make a button that you can push to toggle it being all the way open / close (such as the title) whats the best way to incorporate that into your scripting and is there anything you need to do to be able to drag shortcuts on to these menu areas? sorry if that's a bad question for some reason, but they're layer types and i clicked 'accept drag and drop' so i assume
I have an idea for how I want to make the bulk of my desktop, but before I go about trying to figure out a new program, I thought I'd see if what I wanted already existed, or if it was really easy to explain properly. I'd like to make a menu for the sides and top/bottom of the screen, which is just the title or whatever, then on scrollover comes up with a stretchably sized menu with text or icons in it, and the menu shrinks back when you take your mouse away from it.
