It's amazing that the orbital fleet manager is supposed to be a boon to a planet. I hate taking down those pesky defenders one at a time.

You guys spend way too much time seeing who can piss the furthest and not enough time playing the video games.

I don't really know what you mean by pci being "easier to work with" than agp, you plug the card in, install the drivers, and go. There are several differences between agp and pci. Agp is a 64bit bus, while pci is 32bit. Agp runs at 66mhz, pci at 33mhz. Agp bus rates can be multiplied by your motherbard, 2x will run at 533 MB/sec, 4x at 1066MB/sec. The biggest difference between the two (and the reason agp kicks the snot out of pci) is agp uses your system memory to help with dra

I agree with you that the 1.4 series of updates feel more polished. I also haven't had a single crash since installing them. 1.4 = It is now possible to use diplomacy, influence, and military all at the same time to achieve victory, instead of only overwhelming the enemy with military might. Here's what's been working for me....when you are ready to go take down your pesky neighbor, swoop in, take o

I just finished a gigantic 9ai masochistic with 1.4, and I now know my fears about this patch were unfounded. I finished 6 or 8 months earlier than I usually do, and scored my personal best game. Unfortunately, masochstic now seems much easier than it did before due to our ability to colonize faster and maintain the colony rush economy longer. I was forced to micromanage my planets a LOT more in the mid game, nearly wearing my mouse out with clicks, lol. You won't be seeing very many >100k b

I really hope you guys aren't going to give up on metaverse. It was one of the things that keeps me coming back to play...a way to chart my progress as a player both individually and in the community. Without it, it's possible a lot of players would have just grabbed the game from the most active torrent, played it a couple of times, and moved on. Metaverse gives people a reason to keep playing, a goal to achieve beyond beating it once or twice.

I was going to make a 1.4 thread but I saw this one and just decided to go with it. A couple of observations about 1.4 that I have noticed so far 1) as most people know by now, no more morale bonus for stock exchanges, and more expensive morale buildings 2) even harder to form alliances now than it was before 3) ai won't sell mid to high range weapon or invasion techs all of this (as far as I can tell) adds up to lower metaverse points, and basically locks t

We're only a couple of good games from bumping the fleet from 7th place, we could use a couple of good characters joining up. I'll keep plugging away here, reaching for better scores. I wish there was some kind of pm system built into these forums, it would make it easier to communicate with individuals on here.

Yes, there is a line. Yes, political correctness is NOT that line, it's severely overdone. But there are certain things which simply shouldn't be said. Especially by raving lunatics who simply don't know what they're talking about. I'm in favor of restricting the topic of politics here just so I don't have to accidently read this guy's m

I have had this same thing happen to me also. It was not a metaverse game, so I had used cntrl-n heavily before starting it. If I remember right, it was 9 races, gigantic map, abundant everything. The ai just stopped building after colonizing half a dozen planets or so each, even planetary developments. I just scrapped the game and started another one, but I always wondered what caused it and if a game like that could be exploited for huge points. I guess now I know.

So what happens if you take a few weeks to complete a game? Why would metaverse let me start a game that is going to flag me as a cheater? I had thought that if I updated in the middle of the game then that game would be lost to me. I just submitted one with this version 5 days ago and it didn't get flagged. Thanks

I'm a libertarian, screw Republicans and Democrats both. But I'm an American first and foremost. Chavez? Oh ya, he's that guy in south america that just bought 3 billion dollars worth of arms from Russia...that's going to make for an interesting power shift in South America. I have a feeling we're going to be hearing about this guy for some time...he's gonna be our next boogeyman.

I'm in the middle of year 4 on a Gigantic tight clustered map. My influence is about 1/3 the map, Torians already defeated - terrans, drath, and arceans are all but defeated, but are hanging on to 2 or 3 worlds each well within my influence. The influence I am exerting on their planets is (15)+ on each one, but they won't flip. I am massing transports and warships near my front lines of the 3 remaining races to make a sweep of the map within the next 10 turns or so. Should I commit some of m

I wonder why our starting homeworlds don't have improvements on them from the beginning. Your civilization has lived on it for thousands of years, you would think they already had factories, entertainment, research, and farms before ever reaching for the stars. It's not as if a civ crawled from the primordial ooze and into the cockpit of a space vessel.

I just gassed up for $1.99/gal in Indiana. Instead of $70+ to fill up my truck, it was $50. My twin turbo is still hard on the wallet though since it needs premium.

I much prefer the pc for gaming, but consoles do have their place. For instance, if I have some friends over, it's not much fun for them to watch me play a game on the pc, but its cool for all of us to take turns stomping each other at tekken or madden.

VTM Bloodlines was a great game...good story, great soundtrack...it was just too short and a little linear. There are some tweaks that will make it run better...look up HL2 .ini tweaks...they work the same for VTM since it's the same engine. I didn't have much trouble with it, but then again I have a 7800gtx512....I never met a game I couldn't run.
