If you have access to another machine that has faster internet access then there is a way to do this. You'd have to be willing to install DA on this other machine via SDC and do an archive. You can then move the archive files to the machine with the slow internet access and then use SDC merely to activate the archived version. This was discussed in more detail in the following thread. The problem is that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. To me, when you consider all the potential sources of error, I'm pretty much amazed when anything works at all. I design hardware that often contains both software as well as synthesizable FPGA or ASIC "code". Most or all of this often goes through exhaustive simulation and qualification. The problem is that any simulation or qualification can only check the cases it was designed to check
I'd really like to see some action on this bug, but at the same time, I realize that DA is probably taking up all of the developers bandwidth. Hopefully, as sam0t suggests it's been fixed on DA, but one of the things I've noticed about it is that it tends to happen only when there is a *lot* of autopilot movement going on. This problem may only be noticeable on gigantic size games and even then later in the game. Also this may be dependant on your cpu speed. It takes me a long time to f
AFAIK this has been an issue for a while. In v1.2 this appeared to happen randomly. In v1.31 it seems to be fixed except for the turn immediately following the load of a saved game. I don't have any experience with v1.4 or the Beta as of yet. This does become a major pain in the late stages of a gigantic map game, because the turns become quite long and pretty much every turn follows the load of a save game. BTW what rev are you playing?
Actually, I know a few folks that can colonize even faster than I can. I'm not sure how they do it.
I suggest you try going Manu au Manu againts the ACAENS. You don;'t have to play it out, but just see if you really can keep pace with their developemnt. I don't think you will be anywhere close to their number of planets by the time you hit Planetary Invasion. Been there, done that. Actually I think the Torians are the fastest colonizers. T
Hurrah for Kryo.
I handle it exactly the other way. I save before the Hit turn. That way the first thing that happens when you come back is that the AI draws attention to what you need to focus on. That's good as well. Anytime that you're not half done with something. Sometimes I've done all my movement but no production, that's not a bad place either.
Its Gigantic so there is little probability that you are close. But even if you are, the AI will have 10 planets by the time you research PI, and 12 before you build your first transport. and... Basically, you wont have enough population to rucsh ALL of his planets. Actually, you do. As long as you've been able to keep pace with his colonization it's
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, how do you work around it. I honestly believe that if I could sit down and stay completely focused on a game, I could win at the higher levels. I know exactly how you feel. When I'm in a mid game war in a 500 planet galaxy and I have 100 planets and my opponent has 100 planets as well, a single turn ca
This is funny. I had trouble with the post not going through all in one piece, it kept hanging on me, so I broke it up. Apparently the aborted posts did get through anyway. Sure wish I could delete some of these posts. Sorry. Don't really know how the broken up post got sandwiched between the others because those were definitely the last post's I made in the thread.
just a thought... Iwonder what would happen if you eliminated ALL of your opponents ships and THEN gifted himthe fleet one at a time. My guees is that the AI would quickly reform the flett I have eliminated all of an opponents ships but usually that causes him to immediately surrender. At this point the Thalan have more ships than I do, so it might t
I can't quite see the details in your screenshots but all the fleets in a row followed by fleets of transports is a thing of beauty. I assume these *are* fleets and not individual ships. BTW what's the total number of attack ships and transports, and how many troops per transport do you use?
I have my emailed receipt at home but I'm virtually certain it said $29.95, I'll post something here over the weekend if it isn't.
Mystic is basically correct but a little off on the morale. Also as Tertullian referenced, the Wiki will give you a lot of this. The morale benefit of any building is multiplied by the "base" morale of the planet which is determined by the population. Basically from the wiki morale article: Wiki GC2 Morale Population in billion // fBaseMorale (In-game "-??% From Population" in Approval's Tool Tip) 1 b. //
I meant by more than two choices, I had more than two influence bonus choices. Really. That's strange, what were they. I've never built anything but resource mining and economic starbases. Also I've never used any modules other than mining modules on resource mining SB's and manufacturing modules on the economic SB's, but there's never been any more
I have to laugh. This is like phone tag. I keep missing your edits. Will getting on the internet from home be very difficult? Over.
So the bottom line is: you have a game .sdc file you have a DA expansion .sdc file you know where to put these files on your home computer you have sdcentral_setup.exe you have all three of these files on your flash drive. On your home computer you'll need some kind of internet access. you first run sdcentral_setup.exe you then put the .sdc files where they go you then use SDC to activate the archive then you should be good to go. Does this
I think what you're talking about is the same as this thread. Sector Bonuses
Opps. It seems I caught your post prior to your editing it. Prior to editing your post you said something about a DA archive as well as a 1.40x.061 update archive. I'm not quite sure what that is about, I think maybe we need Kryo to clarify that. I think with the game archive (the .sdc file) plus the sdcentral_setup.exe you won't need to download much of anything. You only need the internet to activate the archive. So unless the 7 hours you're talking about is to setup aol it shouldn't
I've pretty much exhausted my understanding of SDC, since I haven't yet installed it myself, but isn't the 1.40x.061 update and "the game itself" the same thing? Did this generate two different .sdc files? Plus did you download the sdcentral_setup.exe? I think this would be all you need. If you need anything else I'm sure Kryo will make his presence known shortly. If he doesn't show up that probably means I'm right.
they're a lot more rare now, and the larger the galaxy is that you play on, the less likely you are to see one for awhile Is this perhaps because of asteriod mining?
It's the "I have a pc at home that doesn't even know how to get to the Internet for even a moment" that gets into the tricky bits for new betas. In my case it's just a desire to not have SDC on my PC but I'll get over it and just install SDC. But I'm pretty sure this is exactly the case for Evil Stormbringer. It sounds like there is a way for him to d
Actually, the question about fleetsim remains. I'm willing to try to generate whatever test possible to determine why it didn't predict the outcome in this case. I'd prefer if we didn't just sweep this under the rug.
I have to admit the the first couple of games that I played, I used cheats to eliminate the fog of war. I found the FOW to be an annoyance that I just didn't initially need when there was so much else I needed to pick up. I think after two games like this I was all set and found the FOW to not be such an issue to deal with. I think cheats are fine as an initial learning convenience, but if you become dependent on them they will stunt your development.
