Please, OH PLEASE!! Add a few Desktop tweaks, such as removing shortcut arrows and the prefix ( = Vista) references to "short-cut" in the icon text, etc. Surely, this would be a simple matter. Just add a couple items to the work area which will disable these in the Registry. This product has been available to Object Desktop users for years, and ya'll STILL havent added these very important tweaks. I beseech you all as a l
Nah, he just spent too much timing hovering over the 'Zubaz Spelling Ban' buttonLMAO
Here's my suggestion to the OP (the original poster): Get rid of XP entirely, and switch over to Vista itself, rather than trying to make your Desktop LOOK like Vista [which would ACTUALLY turn you into a POSER rather than a Vista user]. If you like the LOOK of Vista that much, go "whole hog" and buy it instead (if you can afford it, of course: I would never advi
Sorry to post to an apparently dead thread, but I just reinstalled ODN2008 after a hiatus of a few months, and I am now needing to have my activation count reset. I've installed and reinstalled my OS several times in the last year or so, each time installing cleanly. I've always installed on the same machine -- though I did purchase a new box last year, and purchased a Dell laptop this year. After installing so many times in the last year or so, I can see why my activation cou
Zubaz said: "Going here should work for you: https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/odrenew.asp" My reply: I already did that. Still extremely slow downloads (dialup speeds on my 12Mbps pipe!!!) It's too bad that the LINK in SDC to renew my subscription didn't send me to the link you posted in the first place. Instead, it sent me to the "New" Purchases page. This is NOT good!!! It can lead unsuspecting users, who have every right to renew for the lower cost
Just a minute ago, I attempted to renew my Object Desktop Network subscription for another year. Rather than giving me the renewal price, the purchase form told me my purchase would be full-price ($49.95US). I've been renewing my subscription every year for several years. This is the FIRST time I've not been offered the renewal price. I went as far as to review the purchase, just before I was to finalize it. Still no renewal price A
1)I made a mistake in my original response, and thought I had corrected it: Rather than calling the Microsoft product "Windows(TM)Utimate Extras Dreamscene", as it should be, I called it "Windows DreamScapes". This probably caused some confusion, since the two titles "DreamScene" (Microsoft) and "DeskScapes" sound so similar. 2) Until I got "Windows(TM) Dreamscene" properly installed on my Vista Ultimate SP1 RC1 Refresh build, I was unable to use Stardock's(TM) "DeskScapes", which is
Stardock products which work with DreamScapes from Microsoft work ONLY with Vista ULTIMATE at the present time, AFIK. To use them, the Vista Ultimate Extras (specifically, DreamScapes) MUST be installed. I think Stardock plans to have non-ULtimate functionality with DeskScapes eventually, even porting it to versions of Windows previous to Vista. But it's NOT ready, yet. Want Deskscapes? GET ULTIMATE!!! NOTE: Windows Vista Ultimate Extras are ONLY for those who w
Yesterday, when reinstalling WindowBlinds, I received an error, "Maximum Activations Reached." (or words to that effect). After uninstalling SDC clean, then reinstalling it, I have been unable to install WindowBlinds, since "wb5.sdc" keeps downloading over and over, and the installation is never started. This is not happening with other of my ObjectDesktop tools. NOTE that I am a member in good standing (AFAIK), and paid up. Hopefully, this will reach the right person...<b
Currently, Stardock Central fails to install WB5 (latest beta). It downloads the installation files 100%, then immediately restarts the download, and never gets to the extraction/installation phase. This is driving me crazy. I am able to download and install all other of my licensed products, but can't install WB. Yesterday, I received a message that I had gone beyond my Activation count. I uninstalled all Stardock products, then reinstalled SDC this morning, hoping to reinstall WB today.
test reply
NOW if only someone would be willing to show me how to enter a line-feed/carriage return in one of these "Add a Reply" forms. [ctrl]-[m] works. (I suggest you report this bug at support@stardock.com)
Thanks, zubaz. Ctrl+M works just fine. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "bug". It might be a "feature" which Stardock designed into SDC, to keep folk's posts from being too long. But onl
Your hardware is too far below the Microsoft recommended values to run AERO, but it should run Vista Home Basic as well as it ran XP. Microsoft recommends a minimum of 1GB Dual-Channel memory (2GB or more is much better), a DirectX9-capable card with a minimum of 128MB non-shared memory, and a Dual-Core processor. To use AERO, the card must be DirectX9-capable. nVidia is notorious for advertising large amounts of VRAM with cards, but failing to say it is shared memory, and is taken from the c
Just so you will know, Flip-3d works just fine under WB 5.5. Of course, I have a very decent machine. UNless your graphic card and memory are well above the Microsoft recommended values for Vista Aero Desktop, it may not work very well.
I've had problems with WindowsFX myself. As a result, I no longer use it. Especially since Vista now has much of its functionality. Evidently, it takes a LOT of machine to use it. Although I have a machine which should be more than adequate for it. But I DO like its ability to morph opening and closing windows, and its ability to easily add transparency to any window. <img src="http://images.
I had the same problem on installing WB 4.9s[b].050. When I rebooted, I got an error from Vista telling me that it could not recognize the interface, and promptly rebooted. After returning from the reboot, only Classic mode would work, until I restored the previous archive of WB 4.9o[b].049, then rebooted. Thankfully, this restored my desktop properly. However, Stardock Central now says that I currently have WB 4.9s[b].050 installed (even after I had uninstalled it.) Any info on this would
NOW if only someone would be willing to show me how to enter a line-feed/carriage return in one of these "Add a Reply" forms. does it work on the forums via SDC? Were you replying to my post, or another one. If so, why quote me? Anyway, attempting to enter a LF/CR in Stardock Central/Discussions does NOT work. If it does, PLEASE show me how. Simply entering "Enter" does not do it. Nor does "Control+Enter", o
Actually, Mark, the problem I was having with downloading using the "Skins and Themes" choice in the Sidebar has been fixed by Stardock. I've been able to download for the last two or three days. NOW if only someone would be willing to show me how to enter a line-feed/carriage return in one of these "Add a Reply" forms. There are a few skins and themes for Vista on WinCustomize right now. But for the most part, all other WB skins and themes seem to work ok. My favorites right now are "Azenis
orthocross: I am sorry you are having problems with WB on Vista, but please remember that just because you have problems does not mean that everyone has problems. Please also remember that it is still a prerelease. We need more information about your problem. Why do you have to reinstall your video drivers? (WB does not touch them). Do you have a process called WBVista.exe running on your machine? What files are in your WindowBlind
An ATI 9500 or higher or a nvidia 5200 or higher have WDDM drivers. 128MB min really. If you have 2 screens then 256 might be worthwhile if you have a midrange card. Personally I would suggest using ATI as I have had some problems with the nvidia drivers on Vista (BSOD type problems) I agree, Neil. The video card which I first ordered with my new Dell was an nVidia. I have since found out that the card Dell gave me used sh
And just HOW does it pay? Ive bought a new subscription for years. Always in the past, WB worked. Even beta versions. But the current beta of WB refuses to run under my purchased copy of Vista HOme Premium. Not only won't it run, but the installation won't even finish, since it AlWAYS tell me to reboot (no matter HOW MANY times I reboot). I've paid Stardock good money each year for working products. Stardock has been announcing that WB will be ready for Vista when Vista is released to the
I don't know how usable WB5.5 will be in Vista. I've already tried installing/uninstalling it twice, and it always seems to tell me to reboot to start it the first time. Ok, did that, now why won't it work under Vista? I'm using a new Dell Dimension E520, with an ATI x1300Pro (256MB dedicated vram), and a fresh copy of Vista Home Premium (just bought). WindowBlinds 5.5 just refuses to run on Vista. PERIOD. WHERE is the promised version which is supposed to run under Vista RTM? EACH time I
How can I have BOTH fully-rounded corners in skins AND use per-pixel skins? Per-pixel skins all refuse to honor screen-edge clip settings for maximized windows, while non-per-pixel skins do honor these settings (set to 0 for top, bottom, left, and right in Windows Border group).
Everybody wants to know about Vista and WindowBlinds. Since Stardock had to completely re-write WB from scratch for Vista (Vista does not use the same themeing engine XP does), its a little more complicated this time around. Hopefully, WB 5.5 will be ready by the time Vista ships to the general public (the end of January). You can get all WB betas if you will purchase Object Desktop: Network. If you already own a valid license to a stand-alone Stardock product, you can get an upgrade to Obje
Also, if you had purchased Object Desktop: Network you would have had all the betas as well as the fully operational programs. Of course, you would still have to purchase an upgrade each year, but even I, with a $750/month pension from the government, can afford $34.95 once a year to keep my subcription active. Some people just love to take, take, take, and never give. Stardock pays its programmers and pays its bills, and still manages to produce great products at a low price. If you like Wi
Im not a skinner, just a user. I don't have the patience or memory necessary to create skins. I just want to know how to enable the skins I download to show the rounded corners. Will setting "never use per-pixel borders" cause the Screen Clip (when set to 0) to display fully-rounded borders when windows are maximized?
