LOL. Christmas gift to myself will be late this year. Wish I'd have found this about three hours ago and saved all the hair pulling trying to figure out what the heck was going on.

My thing is, I see what the A.I. starts building, 95% of the time that is, they do missle offense and defense. I usually start out with beam offense, missle defense, then switch to mass driver offense and adjust defense to work against what A.I. is mostly using. Finally, just play it by ear from their. Yeah, that's pretty much the secret
I'm well into a huge universe sized game, which was going well until recently when the game crashes every few turns. Lately this seems to happen most often right when another civilization discovers a precursor ship. I get the notification screen, then 'boom' game shuts down. When I go back to the previous save it takes a very long time to load...like 3-5 minutes. Here are my system specs: Dell Dimension 4600i Pent IV, 2.8 Ghz Memory 510 MB Radon 9600 driver <br
I ran into a problem while playing the game where the planet showed up as an icon in the screen where you normally see what ships are in orbit around the planet. I could not build any more ships and any ships I sent to the planet were never seen from again. I was playing in a large universe, custom race, and "challenging" level. Prior to the appearance of the ship eating planet, I think that there were about 8 ships in orbit. The action that occurred just prior to the planet goin
and i can tell you right now ive never seen another race that id trade being human for except maybe "Q" from ST TNG. and 'hes' not actualy a race. Do you count the Jedi as a race? No? Screw it, I'd be a Horta.
I actually don't mind espionage being something not quite under your control (like a spy unit), though I wouldn't mind seeing the effects of investment in espionage being expanded a bit more. For example, besides stealing a tech every once in a blue moon, your agents manage to thwart the production of an item or perhaps destroy a building or two. Maybe even steal some of those trade goods every once in awhile. Shouldn't be a regular thing...afterall
Personally, I like the fact that in GC2 you can trade tech in a fairly resonable manner with the AIs. In too many games, that feature is turned off just because some folks want it to be tougher - bully for them, and certainly I'd have that as an option. But in my experience, the AI is a fairly good bargainer, not a push-ov
"I find the UP meets way too infrequently, myself. " Agreed. Seems like a long time between sessions, but then I've just started playing.
